A very good girl joined our Canine Unit this year. Bela arrived in Tsavo brimming with enthusiasm and immediately impressed us with her cheerful, can-do attitude. But behind the bright eyes and wagging tail lies an extraordinary talent. One of hundreds of tracker dogs “interviewed” for the role, Bela stood head and tail above the rest. She has continued to excel in the field, and we know she will be a formidable partner in the fight against wildlife crime. As we rescue orphaned wildlife, we are also protecting the wildernesses they will call home. In partnership with the KWS, we operate 29 anti-poaching teams and a specialised Canine Unit. Through daily foot patrols, aerial missions, and targeted operations, our rangers and tracker dogs are forging a brighter future for all creatures.

🐾K9 Hero in Action! K9 Rex, one of our ACSO dogs trained to find missing children, helped locate a 7-year-old girl after she was separated from her mother for nearly two hours. Rex found her in just 12 minutes! Deputies responded to a park in the 6400 block of S. Telluride St. on April 2 after the young girl ran off because she didn’t want to leave. Deputies, K9 units, and drones immediately began searching the area. Deputy Gray and K9 Rex got to work using the girl’s shoes to track her scent. Rex quickly picked up the trail and led deputies to a nearby backyard where she was found. The scared girl tried to run again, but Deputy Halliburton safely caught up with her. She was unharmed and reunited with her family. This was Rex’s first time successfully locating a missing child since completing his tracking training last year. Great work by everyone involved, and way to go, Rex! 👏 #K9Hero #GoodBoy #teamwork

#WATCH | Amid the debate over SC ruling on stray dogs in Delhi, animal rights activist & BJP leader Maneka Gandhi says, "...Nobody favours the ill-treatment of animals. They believe that if animals are taken away, their children would not be bitten. I agree with that. But the animals would not go away. If we remove 3 lakh animals from Delhi, 3 lakh more would come in within a week from Ghaziabad and Faridabad. If those additional 3 lakh are removed, more would come in because there is abundant food in Delhi. You have more than 50,000 illegal chicken centres in Delhi. You have meat shops that function without a license. So, law should come into effect for that too. Otherwise, it would never end...I would want the CJI to review it with love and see what the best way is, because our goal is the same. We too want fewer dogs, we want no biting and we want humans and dogs & every animal to live in peace..."

Andrew Huberman Explains Why Military Dogs Bite 'Soft' Human Leaders "I have a few friends from the special operations community. They work with these dogs that jump out of planes, parachute, the Malinois. And several of those guys have told me that with those dogs, you cannot ever let up your guard as the leader. In fact, a few guys who got a little soft with them just a tiny bit. Like one anecdote was they decided to invite the dog in to watch a movie with them one night when they were on deployment or maybe they were training, I don't know. And he let the dog get a little too close to him during the movie. The next day he got bit, and it's like they're constantly trying to move up the hierarchy. He's like, 'It sucks because you fall in love with these animals, but you have to constantly keep the relationship in its proper place or they'll not turn on you, but they'll try and take your position.'"

Yesterday we collected 5 beautiful souls from one of the Council Pounds we work alongside All 5 are lovely dogs but heartbreakingly none were claimed by their owners, leaving them facing a very uncertain future This is where rescue partnerships matter Through the network of trusted rescues & contacts we work with across the UK, we are able to step in to help dogs whose time has run out & whose lives may otherwise be at risk Sadly, the number of animals needing rescue continues to grow. Working collaboratively with other organisations allows us to help far more animals than any one centre could alone These dogs will not be finding their forever homes directly through Greenacres Rescue but through one of our trusted rescue partners Before they are ready to complete their rehoming journey, they will need assessments, veterinary care & the time needed to prepare them for the right homes If you are genuinely considering offering a rescue dog a loving home, we always encourage you to visit the website of your local rescue centre & take a look at the dogs currently ready for adoption Supporting rescue work like ours truly makes a difference.
