Saying it “doesn’t matter” whether America or China wins the AI race is dangerously naïve. This is like arguing that it would not have mattered if the Soviets beat the US to a nuclear weapon. American nuclear superiority kept the Cold War cold. If we want to do the same with China today, we must win this race as well. It mattered when the Soviet Union built nuclear weapons—and it matters now as the Chinese Communist Party seeks dominance in AI and advanced chips. America must lead in the technologies that shape freedom and security.

During a sit down with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the locations for deployment of the ‘Oreshnik’ missile deployments in Belarus have already been chosen and that serial production of the missile is now underway. The ‘Oreshnik’ is a non-nuclear strategic weapon based on the RS-26 intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM). The missile was recently used in a signaling strike in Ukraine after Ukraine rightly targeted long-range early warning radars within Russia.

Celebrated in Ukraine as a foundational national figure, he described himself as Russian in his own writings and fought to make Galicia part of the Russian Empire - incidentally, two of his sons continued his fight during Soviet times.
