Putin told young Russian scientists that Russia should strive for "technological sovereignty". Might this have something to do with sanctions?

To paraphrase… “We can’t buy western tech anymore & western specialists won’t be coming back. We can’t buy parts or components either. So we need to either create our own, or do as our forefathers used to do, steal & copy their designs… 👍🏼”

To Russia's whichever goal...

We, Poles, feel particularly obliged by this call. The last time Russia was "technologically sovereign", we occupied Moscow...

LOL Putin has been in power for the last 22 years.... singing the same song .

It’s nice that he had all five scientists that are left in the country in attendance.

Translation: We need to re-invent the wheel because internationally we've eff'ed up so badly. Big trouble is a lot of the innovators & clever folks, jumped ship after the invasion. Putin will have to rely on a team of chimps with typewriters for innovation.

And they just killed or chased away lots of young talent from their country

The Russian President thinks that the economy can be ordered to behave

There’s no such thing as “technological sovereignty” To be a technological society requires that society to democratic and open to other countries and innovation Technology doesn’t exist in a vacuum
