If communism works, then why did the Soviet Union collapse? A regime being good at producing Olympic athletes doesn't prove it's good at producing prosperity, freedom, housing, food, consumer goods, innovation, or human flourishing. By that logic, North Korea's military parades prove central planning works. The Soviet Union could concentrate enormous resources on a handful of politically valuable goals, sports, weapons, space programs. The problem was everything else. Communism's strongest argument is often pointing to the few things it could force people to excel at while ignoring the society it forced them to live in.

Communism works if by works you mean t@rturing and murdoring 60,000,000 white christians in the Holodomor (1917-1934) as explained by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Works just fine, pal.

You say communism works, but you live in capitalism surrounded by luxury and wealth, yet you don't even have a job! The question is, how do you pay for all that luxury?

because people had a terrible desire to get out of this rotten country, and the only way to do that was through sports competitions.

Population size. Systematic Doping and drugging systematic near obsessional disciplinary and punishment. chasing and electing people from other soviets to represent them. Are you genuinely that stupid that you've asked that question?

Mostly because they were doping up to dangerous levels while the rest of the world played clean.

Authoritarian regimes have ALWAYS excelled at building monuments to themselves. When you have the power to extract unlimited amounts of resources from the public at large, even a woefully inefficient system will vastly outspend a free society until the public becomes engaged in the effort, eg the moon landing.

Because nationalism works. Not because communism works.

Drugs and people from occupied nations. 3 out of 5 main players of their 1988 olympic run in basketball were Lithuanians. Most other achievements were due to Ukrainians, Balts and other occupied regions. Russians them selves constantly failed doping tests. 1/2

Because famously a country’s economic success is modelled in its sporting prowess, which is why countries like Kenya, Uzbekistan and Iran got more Olympic Golds than Switzerland in the last Olympics.

WAS that is the operative word: WAS - they are now a has-been!!! " The United States is the most decorated nation in Olympic history, sitting in second place overall in the final medal count of the Milano-Cortina Winter Games. Team USA claimed a historic total of 33 medals—including a record-breaking 12 golds—finishing second only to Norway" - Google @grok please help; expand on the above google results, ranking American Olympic performance this year, and for the last 100 years, compared to the rest of the world, especially the Soviet Union and Soviet Block countries; and give us information on the American with the German name who beat the former long time wrestling champion from Bulgaria - I can not remember his name - he won many matches and got silver and gold medals in the early 1980s

Communism works, but wouldn't satisfy some. For example, in regards of shopping. Every1 would have no problem to afford most of what they want. But instead of 2000 car models, there are only 20. The ppl would have no problem to get a car, but limited to these 20.

If communism works, why did the USSR disintegrate?

How is that even an argument? Sports were a political priority in the USSR precisely because the regime wanted to showcase its superiority on the international stage. They constantly searched for talented children and trained them intensively from a young age. I literally knew a guy whose heart was permanently damaged at the age of eight because they were trying to turn him into a future swimming champion. Some endured and became champions. Who knows how many children were irreversibly harmed to achieve that?

Because the statist Soviets illegally drugged their athletes with steroids. Not surprising: Marxism is an entirely fake phenomenon and its narrative requires propaganda, authoritarianism, police-state fascism, and illegal use of controlled substances in international events.
