I had a HS player tell me he had 4 days of practice throughout the week. Not 1 gb.. CRUCIAL at that level to find a way to get your gb’s

You must have only looked at non competitive high school states for those averages.

Little harsh on hs coaches here saying 10-30 per week. Now it is really hard for them to get the same kid of pregame work that college and pro guys get but that’s not really the hs coaches fault.

You know me better than that coach. It’s definitely not a knock on any hs program. I know the limitations. There are pockets of HS programs where those numbers are way higher I am sure. And there are definitely that don’t get anywhere close to that number. Hope you are well! You are the man!!

And I’d be willing to bet those numbers are even worse for outfielders…

10-30 a week in high school? That is 3 minutes in Arizona! The difference maker is the pace of the ball and the effort of the kid. Anyone can field showcase ground balls, but give me the kid that can go get it and throw with quickness, accuracy, and velo. Pristine fields matter!

Those numbers are low for when I coached my HS infielders. We did EDD's every practice. Plus they saw lots of GB. EDD's were a part of pre-game, too.

Santi got buckets in high school and in training with his high school coaches. I was one of them.

Context for the 10-30 number We are in the midwest- 2/3 days of the week we are in an elementary school gym where we cannot do gbs with real baseballs. So we do not waste our time with that 90% of the time. 1 of the days of the week we get GBs on turf. Get as many as we can!

What are you talking about? I have coached HS baseball/softball for decade and a half and i have NEVER been in a program where infielders got less than 30 a day on practice days. Game days are tougher on HS programs but we still get in probably 10-20 in pre game. 10-30 per week? Never seen a program yet that was ever that low.

12U travel ball here. We had a bad tournament fielding after winter break. I asked my son how infield work had been at practice. Apparently they hadn’t fielded a GB in 2 weeks (working on other things). No wonder we sucked. But in the end, they gotta be getting reps outside of practice
