Really liked how Northampton set up their attack. Very smart to Split the defence/Avoid the "smash zone”/flat passes/create 6v4s - play a smaller game. Great coaching plan & execution #LEIvNOR

They've gone down Sam's channel twice in a row and when Sam drops out of the front line to drop into the backfield he goes to TOBs side of the pitch. That's one of the reasons Leinster were down a defender on the left side.

Hi Brett. I absolutely love your analysis. So is it essentially safer to run two 'narrow' phases, get middle of field then essentially attack on which ever side you have an overlap? Also is playing to the right usually the better option, due to right handed players?

Thanks Paul. I’m guessing here: individual defence weakness may be the target too. you’ll see the “double” wings staying right v Lowe. It looks like they tried to overload his defence decision making. did it a few times in the game.

Great clip Brett. Be interesting to know what Leinster's back split was in defence off lineouts. Know the Boks used to go 1-4 in the front line under Nienaber (with the 9 on the shortside), but a lot of teams have the 10 or 12 bounce to the blind if they've just made a tackle.

Looks so simple !

It does but it’s so well executed (under pressure!)

Love the analysis ! Thanks Brett

Love this video

Super analysis.. from a glance it looked like the targeted and went after Sam P all day knowing he's a liability in defence. They got so much return and momentum from attacking his channel
Is it at all worthwhile to see why this worked but it didn't work for Glasgow or quins? How different did they approach it?

Different plan / different players .
