Riyad Hijab served as Prime Minister of Syria from June 2011 until his defection from Bashar al Assad’s regime in August 2012. According to Hijab, on July 21, 2012, after the Syrian uprising had spread, Bashar al Assad ordered Syrian government forces to withdraw from large parts of northern Syria, particularly in the northeast. Hijab stated that the withdrawal was organized and deliberate. As regime forces pulled back, military positions, bases, warehouses, and weapons including heavy weapons were left behind, and control of many areas passed to PKK. According to Hijab, Assad justified the handover by stating that these groups were considered allies, that the regime had invested in them for years, and that they were needed to control both Kurdish and Arab communities.

AANES - Rojava (Syria) The SDF has carried out a raid against a wanted ISIS Emir and leadership figure called Muhammed Al Bakhit (aka Abu Hamid) in Deirezzor (presumably Al Shuhail) He was arrested. Al Bakhit was active in Deirezzor, Azaaz, Idlib and other regions - after the fall of the Caliphate he returned to Deirezzor living and operating in Regime held Deirezzor and crossed back from regime held Deirezzor into SDF-held Deirezzor (Al Shuhail) with the help of Ibrahim Al Hafl (!!!!) - he was in charge of ISIS cell activities and recruitment of militants.
