What Is Happening in the Syrian Coast? On Thursday, March 6, remnants of the former regime, backed by Iran and the terrorist group Hezbollah, launched a coordinated attack—the largest of its kind since the fall of ousted President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. The attack targeted security patrols and checkpoints in the Syrian coastal region, resulting in the deaths of over 190 policemen, along with hundreds of civilian casualties. As security and military forces began operations to pursue Assad’s remnants, social media accounts started circulating videos and images claiming to document violations committed by security and military personnel. Additionally, photos and names of individuals allegedly killed by Syria’s new authorities during the security campaign against Assad’s remnants in the coastal region were widely shared. Despite the widespread circulation of these materials on social media, the truth is not always as it is portrayed. So, what is the reality? Prior to this attack, a video surfaced featuring Miqdad Ftiha, the leader of this terrorist campaign, who is a war criminal and mercenary affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which previously supported Assad’s regime. In the footage, Miqdad is seen threatening coastal residents, vowing to hunt down and kill Alawites for criticizing him and his crimes. Today, a systematic campaign is underway to distort facts and spread misinformation. Old footage from Syria and Lebanon is being circulated as if it were recent bombings in the coastal region. Images of children from humanitarian advertisements are falsely presented as victims allegedly killed by security forces. Even pictures from Palestine are being misleadingly used to depict events in the Syrian coast. This campaign seeks to exaggerate certain incidents caused by Assad’s remnants, as well as some cases that occurred due to crossfire between security forces and terrorists. Here, we present a video of Miqdad Ftiha openly threatening to commit massacres against Alawites—so the full truth is revealed. Additionally, there are images of Miqdad wearing official Syrian security uniforms in an attempt to mislead public opinion and falsely claim that civilian casualties were caused by government forces.
