honestly arkane trying to do live service felt wrong from the start. they're at their best when they just focus on tight immersive sims, redfall was such a weird direction for them

Tapper: The news media has always covered service members killed in action, prominently because they paid the ultimate price for our nation. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the policies, policy decisions, or the president and that's true. Whether it was the four Americans killed in Benghazi during the Obama administration, or the 13 service members killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal during the Biden administration, or the many other American troops who have fallen. It is a tribute to those Americans. I've never heard any veteran until Hegseth today say that the news media covers fallen service members too much and too prominently.

Ann Widdecombe has possibly been murdered, and Sky News thinks it’s appropriate to have a man discussing whether she was a virgin. Why would whether a woman had ever had penetrative sex be relevant to her possible murder? He then went on to speculate, on mainstream media, that it was a robbery gone wrong rather than politically motivated. That may ultimately prove to be the case, but speculation about motive before the facts are established has no place in responsible news coverage. The first instinct when discussing a woman who may have been murdered should never be to reduce her to her sexual history. Ann Widdecombe deserved better. Every woman deserves better.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reports on PlayStation's myriad live service failings. He reports Bungie had "a whole bunch of live service games in the works", "five or six", at the time they were acquired, but that "for a variety of reasons", which he'll detail in a story later, "most of those projects fell apart". On Naughty Dog, he reports most of the studio was working on Last of Us Online and remakes/remasters before it was cancelled. That it wasn't just a small side project, and is in-fact a key reason Intergalactic isn't out yet. "I think there's a belief out there that The Last of Us Online was just kind of a side project while most people were working on Intergalactic. No, the opposite is true." "Intergalactic did not have the majority of staff until after Last of Us Online was cancelled. And then most people on the studio came over to work on Intergalactic.....which is why we haven't seen a brand new game from them since 2020." He also reports Guerrilla Games live service game Horizon Hunters Gatherering is now being "rebooted" to a more traditional co-op game, no longer live service, following negative play tests, and that it may even be cancelled if it isn't sorted before the end of the year. He adds that the GG's "next mainline single-player Horizon game, is still far, far away" He reports Sony Bend is still working on a new project following their live service project being canned. He also re-touched on Bluepoint's live service game being cancelled, as well as the Twisted Metal Live service game too. Either way, there's been some truly awful project management with Sony's live service push, that has cost even the single player bread and butter side of things. Had Bluepoint not been working on the now cancelled God of War live service game instead of solely Sony Santa Monica, perhaps God of War Laufey would have been much further away too, the way Last of Us Online and Hunters Gathering impacted Guerrilla Games and Naughty Dog. All I can say is, PlayStation is lucky Xbox, whom are seemingly never happy letting PlayStation take the fuck up limelight, spectacularly dropped the ball this gen in a somehow even worse way, else Xbox could have actually encroached on PS5 marketshare. This man is a saint. Lady at the Toyota dealer just told the service advisor she’s “fixing to cut him” because her brake pads wore out. She drove a Honda for 14 years and swears she never replaced the brakes. Now she wants Toyota to cover a wear item under warranty, thinks $420 is a scam, and questions whether the inspection video is even her car. “Bull, bull, bull.” “Everything was supposed to be covered.” “Maybe I should just go back to Honda.” Brakes are a consumable. They wear. That’s how physics works. The advisor stays calm, offers the video, explains warranty vs. wear-and-tear, and doesn’t even flinch when she starts talking like she’s about to pull a knife over a brake job. Service advisors deal with this energy every single day and still have to smile. Hazard pay is overdue. This lady needs to schedule an appointment and talk with someone.
