First impressions are hard to shake. I knew a guy growing up. He sold drugs. He did drugs. He broke into peoples houses. He went to prison. He is a preacher now. I still won't set foot in his church. I just never liked the guy. There are plenty of other churches

Addiction is usually not a choice someone made. A child becomes addicted to sugary drinks their mom hands them. A patient gets addicted to opioids after back surgery. Another person becomes addicted 'screens' and posts all day. Someone who drank or smoked to fit in with others never expected to be drawn in by it and become an addict. The large majority did not choose to become an addict and often there is no poor decision you can point to that caused it.
