Statement regarding the Christmas tree fire in Sahnaya, by Father Elian Wehbe: To clarify the incident involving the Christmas tree at St. Elias the Zealot Church in Sahnaya on Wednesday, Dec 24, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM: During our courtyard celebrations, a firework was accidentally discharged by a youth, striking the tree. As the decorations were largely composed of synthetic materials, they caught fire instantly. Fortunately, no one was harmed We categorically confirm that this was not a deliberate act of sabotage or terrorism. It was purely accidental, and we are grateful that there were no casualties or injuries #Damascus #NewYear
