A 1 MW (1,000 kW) wind turbine that produces 2,190,000 kWh of electricity during a year has achieved a capacity factor of 25%. Want to make farming more sustainable? You're going to need a LOT more labor. We already know how to grow food without synthetic chemicals; humans were doing it thousands of years ago. But it required 80%+ of the population to be working in the fields tending to each plant. That is NOT a world we want to go back to. What if we could bring back the labor without putting humans back in the fields? A lot of sustainable alternatives aren't impossible. They are just too labor-intensive: • Scouting every plant • Mechanically removing weeds • Treating individual plants instead of entire fields Robots don't magically make farming sustainable. But they can make precise, plant-by-plant labor cheap and abundant again. Sustainable farming doesn't just need better chemicals or better farming practices. It needs cheap, intelligent labor. Home ownership collapses for the next generation. We were told this would not hurt American workers. It has.
