@dcstormchaser "In matters of style, swim with the current. In matters of principle, stand like a rock" 🙃

@dcstormchaser Wasn’t there a severe heat wave right after this? Having grown up in NC and dealing hurricanes a ton, this was the closest thing to it I’ve seen since living in the DC area.

@dcstormchaser the aftermath was so much worse with days of power free living in sweltering heat. I remember it being cooler going for a morning run in the shade than sitting in my apartment in the afternoon

@dcstormchaser Like it was yesterday. No power, no cell phones.

@dcstormchaser My wife @TraceyClarkeArt was in the middle of chemotherapy. We lost power for 3+ days. What a time to be alive!

@dcstormchaser I still have a few pieces of fire wood at the bottom of the pile from a neighbor's tree that came down with this storm. If I remember correctly, there were estimated millions of trees that came down with this derecho.

@dcstormchaser I was in high school

@dcstormchaser YES! I remember this! It was nuts. So unexpected and quick.

@dcstormchaser I was on the highway when this monster hit. The force of the wind snatched one of the highway signs down and spit it onto the road. Luckily, no one was hurt by it.

@dcstormchaser I remember the smell of broken wood and a shower of leaves that came with the first gust out ahead of the storm. Very strange.
