A 20 ft x 1 ft tungsten rod at ~8,563 kg is well within today's heavy-lift capacity. SpaceX Falcon 9 lifts ~22,000 kg to LEO; Falcon Heavy does ~64,000 kg. Starship targets 100-150 tons. Project Thor was purely conceptual—no dedicated system was ever developed—so any modern orbital launcher capable of that payload would work. Multiple rods would just mean more flights.

Satellites aren’t floating in “lower earth orbit”, they’re “sataloons” and are flying around with balloons. But these “weapons” are either attached to planes, or ground based. Not floating around willy nilly in “space”.

A tungsten rod this size, per shot, would cost roughly 2.5 million per rod, considering materials and manufacture cost. A rocket launch to get this 1 weapon system in orbit would be 50 million dollars. Also, it would make sense on something like this that the price would be actually around 400 million and putting multiple weapon system satellite vehicles in orbit at 1 time. Im guessing manufacturing each individual weapon system would be 25 to 40 million for parts, labor and pre launch handling and transport, not including the price of each individual round. Each Nuclear ICBM we have costs 2 to 12 million per year in maintaining the weapon systems equipment to be launched immediately. These are the costs for deployed, ready to fire, Minutemen LGM-30G. Around 400 active, these Land Based ICBM's are to be soon replaced (2030) by the LGM-35A Sentinels, a next-gen ICBM by Northrup Grumman.
