In 2021, he shared that Adele had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 10 years earlier, and that while the disease had taken a lot away, “the need to dance hasn’t left her. She can’t speak. She can’t stand. She can’t feed herself. But when she sees me, there is always a smile. Still a smile. And there’s still a kiss. And there’s a sound which she makes when she sees me. It’s just the sound but I know it means ‘I love you.’” Bruce posted this video of him and his mother dancing to swing music in tribute. Here is a wild one. Riverside deputy Martin Huizar is called out to the residence of Adele Shirley on a noise complaint. One of the children in the house opened the door when the deputy knocked and immediately closed it once they saw the deputy. Deputy Huizar took it upon himself to open the door and enter the home. Once in the home Adele the home owner told him to leave as he does not have a warrant. The Deputy refuses claiming he owns her home since he is inside. Things escalate after Adele asks for a supervisor and the deputy grabs her and placed her under arrest. This is a classic violation of the 4th amendment good on Adele for standing her ground. The Deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Adele has filed a civil suit against the county which is still on going with the last update in Nov 2025. No official word on trial, settlement, or the status of the charges brought on Adele by the deputy (which most likely will be dismissed.)
