They unironically could have kept this in the game by having Joel just be a grief induced hallucination who accompanies Ellie throughout the game. Would have been a lot more interesting than it actually being Jessie.

I’m happy they “mislead” me. It made what happen hit so much harder. As Ellie, I was on a mission to kill everyone. Then it made me care about Abby. By the end, I was conflicted who was “right”. In other words 10/10 masterpiece.
