Dana Perino & @BillMelugin speak to the founder & CEO of Concussion Legacy Foundation - Chris Nowinski, Ph.D. - about what this study means for the world of football & how to bolster player safety moving forward: "We're more concerned about the bigger hits. One interesting fact about football is we worry about the concussions, but the concussions aren't often the hardest hits you take. A football player will take maybe 300-400 hits harder than a concussion over their career. So we need to focus not only on the repetition, but on changing the rules for the big hits." "The CDC found that the median number of head impacts for a youth tackle football player is about 378. And the median number of hits to the head for a flag football player is 8. But we would never expect to see CTE coming out of a flag football player." "The biggest thing here is that we control who gets CTE and who doesn't so we need to change how we play football."
