Travis Hunter is playing in the Alamo Bowl because his team was smoked by 6 and 7 loss teams. Smart voters know that you're not the best player in the country if you're playing in a bowl game to determine the 3rd best team in your conference.

The same is required of a player, but it is an entirely different skillset, and the genetics lottery plays a factor as well. There is a reason Deion Sanders will never be as good a coach as Curt Cignetti; the two have spent their adult lives focusing on two different things.

This, to me, is the most insane stat in all of sports. He was so much greater than the next-best player that he’s actually in a league of his own—he has no peer group in the sport. Whoever is #2 is actually the “greatest hockey player ever.”
