Renowned Kannada actor, director & action choreographer Thriller Manju has watched Dhurandhar 2 in Ireland and praised the film highly. Yet, some side actors and a failed actress from Kannada industry are unnecessarily badmouthing it. Talent speaks through work, not jealousy. #Dhurandhar2 #ThrillerManju Aditya Dhar Yami Gautam Dhar

As I sit here in DC this week, we are closer to something I was not sure I would ever see. I have been working in this industry since 2015. For most of those years, the defining feature of crypto in Washington was not policy. It was the absence of it. A gray zone where serious people built serious things under a constant cloud, never quite sure which rules applied or whether the ground would move beneath them. This week the CLARITY Act sits on the Senate calendar. A federal framework for digital asset market structure, the thing this industry has wanted for the better part of a decade, is closer than it has ever been. It is not law yet, and there are real hurdles left. But the distance between where we stood a few years ago and where we are sitting today is hard to put into words. I keep thinking about the work that got us here. Over the past year I watched Chainlink move from outside these conversations to inside them. Sergey at the White House for the signing of the GENIUS Act. The Department of Commerce putting government economic data onchain. Meetings with the SEC that became real interpretive guidance. Conversations with the lawmakers now writing the rules. None of that happens by accident. It happens because people keep showing up, year after year, and make the case in rooms where it is not yet obvious. And there is something fitting in it. The entire premise of what we build is verification. Making truth provable. Removing the question of what is real. The work here in DC is the same thing in a different form. Trading a decade of ambiguity for something the industry has never actually had. We are not at the finish line. But sitting here, it is hard not to feel the weight of it. The gray zone is ending. What comes next is something this industry has never had. Clarity.

recently, a blogger on xhs compared song zuer's iconic "qiao simei" scene with an ai-generated version, and the comments absolutely spoke for themselves 😭 ~"this proves ai can replace some actors, but it still can't replace truly great actors." ~"i think in the future, ai can be used for special effects and dangerous scenes that can't be filmed, but great stories and great performances are still what truly move audiences." ~"i can't feel any emotion from ai, but song zuer makes me feel like she's actually crying." ~"it's not as lifelike as a real person, but it's already better than a lot of actors who only know how to stare blankly. ai replacing human actors isn't just a fantasy anymore." ~"when you compare them side by side, song zu'er wins by a landslide." ~"ai can only imitate, but actors create characters." ~"what zuer conveys is disappointment in herself, disappointment in the other person, the disillusionment after years of marriage, and the irony of still believing in them. there are so many layers of emotion." ~"even if ai's crying looks fake, it already beats plenty of traffic actors. but actors with real acting skills like song zuer will never be replaced." ~"the one on the left is already better than over half of the chinese entertainment industry." ~"is song zuer's acting really that good? i watched the first episode of one of her dramas before but dropped it because i wasn't into the story. i never realized her acting was actually this good."

Here’s to Shashwat Sachdev. Some collaborations go beyond work, they become deeply personal. Sha has been that for me. Not just the music composer of Dhurandhar but someone I see as a younger brother, someone I’ve shared chaos, silence, ideas and some of the most intense creative days with. What he’s done on this film still doesn’t feel real when I say it out loud. 9 songs in 9 days for Dhurandhar Part 1, with the entire BGM done in 6 days. And then Dhurandhar Part 2, 14 songs in 11 days, BGM in 3. At that speed, at that scale, with that kind of emotional depth and that kind of extraordinary quality, it’s beyond crazy. And what makes it even more unreal is how both the albums, released within a span of 3 months, reached top global charts, with almost every song being loved and celebrated, something that’s an absolute rarity for any film in the world. For almost 15 days, my house stopped being a house. It became a living, breathing studio. Every room had something going on, music in the living room, recordings in the bedrooms, writing in the balconies. Singers and musicians walking in and out endlessly. Days and nights just blending into each other. 21–22 hour stretches, no real sense of time, just a shared madness to get it right. And right at the center of all of it was Sha. Holding everything together. Creating, composing, guiding, reacting, evolving, all at once. There were days he was unwell, running on barely any sleep, dealing with health scares but he still showed up fully, without compromise, without slowing down. That kind of resilience is rare. Having the legendary Irshad Kamil Sir alongside, and a team that gave everything they had, pushed this into something even more special. Everyone went into absolute God mode. And through all that chaos, Magic (Sha’s better half) was the anchor, keeping things steady, holding the energy together when everything could have easily fallen apart. What makes Sha truly special is not just his talent. It’s his hunger. His refusal to settle. His instinct to keep digging until something feels honest. He doesn’t chase easy, he chases truth in every note. That kind of commitment doesn’t come from skill alone. It comes from love. Love to achieve God through music. And you can feel that love in every second of Dhurandhar. Always grateful. Always rooting for you. ❤️

💔🏳️‍⚧️ Finding out Michael from #TheProudFamily was supposed to have they/them pronouns but was cut from the show is another reminder that the beautiful diversity that (Disney Creatives) keep fighting for are low priority for (Corporate Disney). 💖🏳️‍⚧️ But there is some hope… • The ‘MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE’ Revival Special introduced Kelly, Malcolm’s trans non-binary sibling played by trans non-binary actor Vaughan Murrae. • Filipino American writer and creator Mia Resella is trans non-binary and the creator and showrunner of the new upcoming Disney Jr show ‘SAM WITCH’ coming out in 2026. That’s a big deal because it directly counters the conservative political push to bar trans creatives and talent from working in family entertainment. • And it might be a long shot, but for a year Hunter Schafer has been rumored to be the frontrunner for playing Mystique in the upcoming #Xmen movies and by a miracle might get it, even though she’s clearly the perfect actress for the role. Yes, it is painfully clear that all the trans rep that has been cut are all Black/POC and from animated projects, but I'm hoping if not both Josh D'Amaro (new CEO) and Dana Walden ( First Woman Dis President) cares to fight for Diversity, at least one of them does.🙏🏾💖 🤷🏾‍♀️ I guess we’ll see the direction at #D23. #LGBTQIA #Disney Video clip by tonyturner on YouTube.

‡ Judging Firm Ground Turf Action Friday's 8th race is the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. I've chosen this race not because it will necessarily present a good betting opportunity, but rather a good illustration of how I go about predicting whether horses which haven't yet raced on firm turf are likely to handle it well. In the U.S., handicappers typically look through the lens from the other side, meaning that as the vast majority of turf races are contested over firm (or hard) courses, predicting which horses may handle the odd soft ground race is the challenge. But when horses travel from Europe to the U.S., relatively few have shown form over anything like the firm ground typically found in the States, and not all of them adapt equally well. There are four European runners in the race. Balantina was beaten just a nose in a Group III race in France over a course rated firm, and her action appears consistent with a horse that should handle even firmer going. Precise, the 6/5 program favorite, has also won over relatively firm surfaces, and shows a good action. She'll need to overcome a very bad draw, but is clearly the best horse in the race on form. This brings us to the two fillies that I'll use to illustrate contrasting action. Broadly speaking, horses that are well-suited to firm surfaces show a fluid, lower-to-the-ground action, while those which often prove best on softer surfaces display a rounder, or what is sometimes referred to as "knee" action. Pacific Mission has run only three times. Her two races on turf were contested over ground that was much softer than what she will face at Del Mar. But her third race was at Kempton, over an all-weather surface, and the attached clip (below, on the left), was taken from that race. She is the one in front, with the rider wearing the iconic pink, white and green Juddmonte silks. As you should be able to see, Pacific Mission shows a good, fluid action, which implies that she is likely to adapt well to the Del Mar turf. Whether she, and her rider, Colin Keane, will be able to overcome the 12 post, and prove good enough to win or place, are different matters. Queen of Hawaii, trained by Aidan O'Brien's son Joseph, will break from post 2. She also has three starts to date, but unlike Pacific Mission, has yet to race over anything like firm ground. While all three of her races were over ground rated "good", that rating in Ireland is typically, I would say, equivalent to what would be labeled a "yielding" course in the U.S. That each of her last two races, both over a mile, were run no faster than 1:41 4/5, helps to illustrate the point. The clip of her most recent run (below, on the right), was taken from her Group III win at The Curragh in August. She is the horse tracking three wide (#5), in dark blue silks. Note how she picks up her knees, as that it the type of action that is more often associated with horses that prefer give in the ground. To be clear, some horse that display such action do "act" on firmer surfaces, as well, and presumably her trainer is optimistic that Queen of Hawaii will adapt. But the contrast between her action, and that of Pacific Mission, provides a good illustration of the basic differences. And setting aside all other handicapping variables, horses with fluid action are more likely to excel over firm surfaces than those with a pronounced knee action.

The ATG School One-Pager I’m not trying to reinvent schooling. There are just a handful of things I believe in which I haven’t seen in any school I’ve been around as a student or parent. Policy #1: Each student gets to be responsible for growing some of their own food, no matter how small, and THROUGHOUT schooling (not just a quickie project here or there). Policy #2: Minimum 1:1 ratio of time NOT SITTING IN THE CLASSROOM. What you do with this is up to you. There are so many real world skills, sports, gardening, music, etc. The strict ratio in the school day is the key for me. Common sense and personal interests can take it from there. Policy #3: Daily time to read whatever you want to read about. The biggest barrier for my reading was INTEREST. Be there to ensure the book is at their level, and to help them if they don’t understand something. Other than that, LET THEM ENJOY READING, ALL THE WAY THROUGH SCHOOL, not just in early years. Policy #4: (This is the most unusual yet the biggest reason I’m in education.) High school is a 50/50 bridge to winning in real life. Mornings are for actual work, making and SAVING UP MONEY. Afternoons are for learning finances and professional skills of YOUR INTEREST. With average work, you’ll finish school with $50,000-$100,000 in the bank, more skills than the norm, and a greater chance of creating your life and work from there on out, rather than conforming to make a paycheck. Policy #5: As part of the high school 50/50 system, ensure each student learns the adult financial red tape in your state/country before you’ve got bills, kids, etc.

Model-Free Reinforcement Learning (MFRL) has been alluring, especially with supercharged compute with physics on GPU. However, the methods use 0-th order gradients, and are often not the best optimizers. Can we do better than PPO in continuous control for robotics? Turns out yes! 🥳 tl;dr: Faster, better RL than PPO in continuous control 💪 The answer lies in using more information from the simulation. We are juicing the simulation on GPU as it is, why not use it for gradients as well? This has been a driving question in a series of our works. We first studied this problem in ICLR 2022 paper on Short Horizon Actor Critic Naive gradient based methods are stuck in local minima and have exploding/vanishing gradients. SHAC solved this problem truncated rollouts and model based value estimation, where the model is Differentiable Sim. This boosted sample efficiency and wall-clock time immensely especially in high dimensional systems such as humanoids Yet, given enough compute PPO often caught up. Our follow up paper on on Adaptive Horizon Actor Critic at ICML 2024 discovers the cause and provides a fix. However, we find that even when given ground-truth dynamics, not all gradients are useful due to sample error. 1st-Order Model-Based Reinforcement Learning methods employing differentiable simulation provide gradients with reduced variance but are susceptible to bias in scenarios involving stiff dynamics, such as physical contact. We find that back-propagating through contact and long trajectories drastically reduces gradient accuracy. Using this insight, we propose AHAC to dynamically adapt its roll-out horizon to avoid differentiating through stiff contact. AHAC is a first-order model-based RL algorithm that learns high-dimensional tasks in minutes (wall clock) and outperforms PPO by 40%, even in the limit of data provided to PPO. This work is led by Ignat Georgiev alongside Krishnan Srinivasan, Jie Xu, Eric Heiden and ample assistance from warp team at NVIDIA Robotics (Miles Macklin)

RHP Justin Mitrovich (Elon Baseball) is one mid-major arm to follow this season. Was excellent as a true Freshman and pitched his way to a 3.68 ERA with 66 Ks to 21 BB across 63.2 IP. Last spring he worked a 5.06 ERA and collected 96 Ks against 30 BB in 80 IP. Mitrovich also showed positive flashes on the Cape this summer and notched 17 Ks in as many IP. Mitrovich has an athletic frame at 6'3" and 200-lbs. Room to fill out physically. Worked exclusively out of the stretch during the spring, but went back to the windup this summer. Works on the 1B side of the rubber, starts his motion with a small side step then gathers himself. Leads into a high lift, and the rest of his operation is up-tempo. Plenty of depth on his long arm stroke, attacks from a three-quarters slot with present arm speed. Some effort. Mitrovich's FB sits in the 91-94 range, but has been up to 96 with some life in the top-1/2 of the zone. Figuring his heater out is going to be the key for him going forward. Threw mostly 4-seamers during the spring, but went 2-seam heavy during the summer and still generated a whiff rate < 20%. A handful of the latter flashed late arm side life, particularly against LHH. Both play well in the top-1/2 of the zone. Needs to iron out the shape and maximize it. Mitrovich's bread-and-butter offerings are his secondaries. His low-80s CH is one of the best of its kind in the college ranks. Averaged over 12 MPH off his FB last spring and is a legit swing-and-miss pitch against both LHH and RHH. Throws it with conviction and will use it in any count. Consistently flashes fade to the arm side as well as ample late tumbling life. True "falling off the table" look. Mitrovich's feel for the pitch is highly advanced, and last spring it generated a 52% whiff rate, 47% chase rate and held opposing hitters to a .198 average. Comfortably a 60. Rounds out his arsenal with a low-to-mid-80s SL that is a particular weapon against righthanded hitters. Gyro look that's not big in shape, but will flash some lateral glove-side life with late bite. Flashed above-average at times last spring and garnered a 45% miss rate. Gets whiffs both in and out of the zone. Mitrovich is a strike-thrower who looks the part of a starter at the next level. As mentioned, the key with him is developing the FB. Fits as a 5th-7th rounder for me right now. (📽️: Elon Baseball)

Azad Kashmir's total population is 4 million, and millions of people reside abroad or in other provinces of Pakistan. There are more than 100,000 government employees in Azad Kashmir. The number of Grade 16 to 22 government employees exceeds 18,000; these are employees who work only within Azad Kashmir. Employees serving in the Pakistan Army, Islamabad, and other provinces and institutions are separate from this. A total of 80,000 people from Azad Kashmir are employed in the security forces. If those living abroad and in other parts of Pakistan are excluded, approximately 22% of Kashmir's people are government employees. The total budget of the Azad Kashmir government is 310 billion rupees, of which only 153 billion comes from state resources, while the remaining 157 billion rupees are provided by the Government of Pakistan. Out of this budget, 261 billion rupees are spent on salaries. Last year, after protests, the Government of Pakistan further reduced the price of flour provided to the citizens of Azad Kashmir and also significantly lowered the cost of subsidized electricity. The question is: how much industry has the business community established in Azad Kashmir? How many citizens have they provided jobs to? What notable contributions have they made to the state's agricultural development? Which goods have they made cheaper, and by how much? Another question is: besides running heaters and electric rods with cheap electricity, what facilities have been provided to the people of the state? There are demands to abolish the seats allocated to Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan, but this issue is not so simple that it can be explained through a few social media posts. After escaping the massacres in Jammu and the subsequent aggression, thousands of Kashmiris were forced to seek refuge in different areas of Pakistan. The free state (the base camp) allocated seats and employment quotas to provide them with an identity. But now India, which seeks to strip Kashmiris of their identity, is running an organized campaign against these seats through deceptive slogans, with the Action Committee and the business community becoming its fuel. The people of Azad Kashmir produce 100,000 tons of wheat. However, 500,000 tons of wheat are consumed in Azad Kashmir. The remaining 400,000 tons, supplied from Punjab, are sold in Azad Kashmir at subsidized rates cheaper than in Punjab. Any Kashmiri can receive treatment at military units, advanced health centers, or CMHs located along the Line of Control. The Awami/Joint Action Committee is in fact neither truly public nor does it contain any real action, because it consists of violent protesters who have come onto the streets only for chaos and propaganda.
