The House and the Senate will hold separate votes on a War Powers Resolution on Thursday, sponsored by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie and Senators Tim Kaine and Rand Paul respectively. The War Powers Resolution seeks to halt President Donald Trump's war of aggression on Iran through the constitutional authority vested in Congress to authorize a war. Deluzio said the administration has “not made any kind of case to the American people for why Americans should go fight in Iran,” and said those “beating the war drum” have also failed to make their argument. Deluzio also called for banning super PAC spending and overturning Citizens United, arguing that money in politics distorts what happens in Congress and, on any issue area, “if there’s money behind it, it shows up in our elections” and in super PAC spending.
