Dreams of home ownership are slipping out of reach for too many British Columbians. When land title certainty erodes, families hesitate, lenders pull back, and investment stalls. We cannot pretend to know that repealing DRIPA or section 8.1 of the Interpretation Act will fix everything. But we do know this: forcing every law to be read through UNDRIP has injected uncertainty into our legal system at exactly the wrong moment. Repeal is a necessary first step. It gives British Columbia the opportunity to restore clarity, rebuild confidence, and begin stabilizing land and title for families, builders, and investors alike.

BC is ungovernable under DRIPA. I was the only one opposing the NDP’s land back agenda back when it was hard. I’m happy the other candidates have joined the chorus to drop DRIPA now that it’s politically easy, but if you’re only calling for its repeal now, we can’t count on you to have the political will to actually drive through the repeal when it counts. I’ll get it done. ✏️ Sign to defeat the NDP:

I have a video brewing about the current state of politics in British Columbia. But I need to put out this clip now because of how ridiculous it is. The Executive Director of the BC Conservative Party Angelo Isidorou effectively confirms the CPBC will not get rid of DRIPA. He attacks the 3 MLAs who left the party (Brodie was kicked out) as being intolerant of the views of other CPBC MLAs. He foolishly uses DRIPA as an example for free votes, confirming MLAs like Warbus, McInnis, and Milobar are pro-DRIPA. The host Mo Amir (Mo Amir 🪬) seems baffled that Angelo would say that no everyone in caucus will agree on repealing DRIPA when it is a main platform plank of the 2024 CPBC campaign. Insane! Who could guess why people are having their confidence in Rustad and the CPBC shredded. (Later we need to discuss how the party is now not actually planning on repealing SOGI-123) Angelo tries to swipe at the old BC Liberals but his description of the BC Conservatives sounds a whole heck of a lot like how they operated. This is why OneBC exists. British Columbia needs a real reform-minded party that plans to actually do what is says in its platform.

The treaty signs land away to the K'omoks band in the Comox Valley area and hands over mineral rights, more money, and power without any Aboriginal title being pulled back. We need to repeal DRIPA, ignore UNDRIP, and roll back these treaty agreements, land giveaways, and title decisions.

The lack of clear language has created massive uncertainty about what “Aboriginal governance” actually means and what future deals will look like. I am the only candidate on that stage with real, hands-on experience in Aboriginal land issues. I was part of the legal team that took the Musqueam case all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. I’ve lived it. I’ve litigated it. I’ve negotiated these issues in Kelowna, the Shuswap, and across the province. Right now, both the provincial and federal governments have abandoned the field and are failing to stand up for the 95% of British Columbians who are non-Indigenous. That has to change. When DRIPA was debated in 2019, this NDP government said the legislation would not create new rights for First Nations. But the NDP's proposed changes to legislation brought in as part of the DRIPA action plan (Heritage Conservation Act) would give First Nations decision making rights on public & even on private property. The NDP continues to negotiate behind the backs of British Columbians, giving control of our lands & waters to governing bodies who are not accountable to the electorate.
