The Douglas Ross expenses story was missing from Reporting Scotland tonight. STV News led with it. By not covering it Reporting Scotland has adopted a different editorial approach than it did with Michael Matheson. It ran the Matheson story for days, doorstepping him and also then FM leader Humza Yousaf. It will be interesting to see if Good Morning Scotland runs the Ross expenses story tomorrow.

The Justice here doesn't appear to know who called the Special Session that resulted in the proposed amendment, which is concerning. But appellee's counsel argues, excellently, that an amendment requires only a 1/3 + 1 vote to block the special session. But since the special session was proposed to deal with a budget issue, it was not shut down. Once in that special session, they chose to propose an amendment to the Constitution, which only required a majority vote. So they tricked them into a 2/3 vote for a Special Session to address a budget issue and then rope-a-doped into an amendment. Insane.

Thomas Ross KC is no fan of the SNP, but he left the Scottish Tories and Scottish Labour without a name this morning when he exposed their attacks on the Lord Advocate as empty political game playing, calling them disgraceful. This is worth listening to right to the end. Interesting to note that the decision to make the Lord Advocate a member of the Scottish Govt cabinet was taken by Labour and is written into the Scotland Act.
