Participants carrying EU and Georgian flags marched to the parliament building in central Tbilisi, the epicenter of the protests that have been ongoing for a year. Exactly one year ago, shortly after the elections that the opposition refused to recognize, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that the issue of starting EU accession talks would be taken off the agenda until the end of 2028. That same evening, protests erupted across Georgia, and they have continued ever since. Georgians have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to European values, but the Kremlin does not want to allow them to live in peace and progress. Kremlin-backed officials in power are doing everything possible to strip Georgians of their desire for freedom. He said that in response, Russia will "continue to develop" its armed forces and "strengthen the security of Russia." This is the second time in a few days that Putin himself speaks of this.
