According to reports, the accident occurred about a month ago during the funeral rites of the Asante Mamponghene. Fire officers were responding to a distress call when their vehicle was involved in a crash with a car carrying the woman and her husband. Although initial reports indicated that the husband did not sustain serious injuries at the scene, he reportedly died a few days later.
