The reason for that increase is because Social Security and Medicare has grown very large due to the Baby Boomer Generation reaching older ages, and Defense spending increasing significantly after 9/11 to protect from another 9/11. Additionally interest on debt has grown. These are the three main cause for the increase. It's not like we are just deciding to spend more money on more things (we've added things and have taken things away). What's the solution? DOGE isn't going to fix the problem unless they cut Social Security and Medicare. How about we bring in more revenue from the ultra wealthy billionaires?

@RepDavid DOGE keeps finding money to cut. It is quickly adding up. You do realize when we cut spending we don’t need to increase revenue We can’t tax our way to prosperity and the only thing raises taxes does is encourage more wasteful spending.

Even with the record spending and staffing, the city’s own metrics show that performance for core city responsibilities is worse now than before. Taxpayers are paying more for less.

The County Judge stated she wanted to raise taxes. Here it is on this week's agenda for Commissioners Court meeting. To my knowledge, there hasn't been one suggestion to look at the budget and see where we can save some money. We don't have a revenue problem.
