There is now irrefutable evidence which shows that high corporate profits are a main driver of ongoing inflation. Companies continue to keep prices high even as their inflationary costs drop. Prices for consumers rose by 3.4% over the past year, but input costs for producers increased by just 1%. When business costs rise the cost is passed on in the blink of an eye. When their costs drop they do NOTHING. Corporations are enjoying windfall profits worth $billions as a direct result of their costs dropping while consumer costs remain static and in some cases increase. The imperative action needed is a significant windfall tax based on the difference between input costs plus a normal margin and current consumer costs. Businesses see every global shock like the pandemic or Russia invading Ukraine, as an opportunity to exploit consumers to increase their margins. As a direct result, the Fed increases interest rates and consumer prices remain high. It’s a lose lose for American families, as yet more money is stole from the bottom and the middle to feed the greed of the rich. This is not a conspiracy theory it is a simple fact. With the attacks by Hamas in Israel, a lot of people are spreading misinformation alleging that the US gave Iran $6 billion and that this money is the cause for the escalation. This is simply an outright lie. - Yes, Iran has supported Hamas, and Hamas obtained a lot of weapons from Iran. - No, the US did NOT give Iran $6 billion, and it certainly did not end up in the hands of terrorists. What really happened with the $6 billion. - The US unfroze $6 billion in Iranian money (Not US money or US taxpayer dollars). It was Iran’s money that was in South Korean bank accounts. The money came from oil sales that were put into accounts that were set up under the Trump administration. - The US allowed the money to be transferred to accounts in Qatar, without violating sanctions, in exchange for 5 US citizens getting to come home to their families. - The US has strict limits on how the money can be used, and it is NOT under the complete control of the Iranian government. The money is only permitted to be taken out in exchange for humanitarian purchase such as food, medicine, and farm supplies. The US still has the ability to freeze the money if any rules are broken and they can validate where every dollar that is withdrawn ends up going. Those are the facts.

The state will not finance these things, neither the event called CPAC nor other related institutions such as the Mathias Corvinus Collegium and similar attached bodies. I believe the state should never have financed them in the first place, it was a crime. Mixing party financing with government spending from the state budget is, in my view, a criminal offense, and this will have to be investigated by the future authorities, including the National Office for the Recovery and Protection of Public Assets, since those budgetary funds were not meant to finance party events. CPAC is welcome to come to Budapest, very welcome, but it should not be financed with Hungarian taxpayers’ money. It should be funded by Fidesz, or by Orbán’s proxies, at least until that money is taken back.
