Wait, I don’t get it. Peter Obi has deliberately stayed away from dirty and violent politics and has said repeatedly that no one need die for his ambition to become President of Nigeria. Yet because the current government is coming after him politically, we are now saying he should “match APC fire for fire” and be just as brutal as they are towards him. But what exactly are we asking him to do? If he responds with the same level of brutality, wouldn’t that come about loss of lives and put him in a position where he could become a political refugee overnight? And wouldn’t that defeat the very purpose of everything he has been trying to achieve? They want to ensnare him so badly, and the moment he falls into their trap even with just his words, they will use it against him and treat him the way they are treating Nnamdi Kanu and El-Rufai.
