Restaurant reservations don’t always follow a script. GPT-Live-1 listens while it speaks, so callers can interrupt, add details, or change direction mid-conversation. Hear how Yelp is using it to make reservation calls feel more natural:

@Yelp Yeah this is the bit voice agents kept sucking at, real people interrupt and change their mind mid-sentence

@Yelp The real upgrade isn’t AI that talks. It’s AI that actually listens.

@Yelp the interrupt handling is the easy demo case, party size and time are a tiny slot space. the real test is barge-in mid-sentence when the caller corrects something already spoken, does the audio actually cut in time or does it talk over them for another second.

@Yelp restaurant calls are a good stress test for voice ai. names, dates, party sizes, preferences, changes halfway through the call. there’s a lot more happening than just answering questions.

@Yelp listens while it speaks is the interrupt path. if the caller changes party size mid-sentence, does Yelp keep the same booking session or restart the flow?

@Yelp Interruptibility is a meaningful test for real-time agents: natural turn-taking matters as much as latency. It will be interesting to see how systems preserve context across those corrections.

@OpenAI @ChatGPTapp Existing ChatGPT Pro $200 / 20× was switched to 5× yesterday. Auto-renew was on, next charge Sep 13. No revert button in billing. Help Center case number [14855935]. Official docs say existing 20× should be unaffected and scheduled downgrades should be undoable before cycle end. Need 20× restored before Sep 13 — after that the pause blocks re-upgrade

@Yelp Natural ≠ reliable. The real benchmark starts when the customer says: “Actually… wait, change that.” 💀

@Yelp Interruptibility is the real product line here. Voice agents stop being demos when they can recover from barge-ins, partial corrections, accents, latency, and changed intent without dumping the caller back into menu-tree purgatory.

@Yelp Listening while speaking is the key difference here, it should make calls feel much less robotic. Curious how GPT-Live-1 handles interruptions like date changes or special requests without losing the thread.

@Yelp Barge-in support is such an underrated UX detail for voice AI. This is the difference between 'talking to a bot' and 'talking to someone.

@Yelp this is the part of voice agents that feels genuinely useful. being able to interrupt, change details and keep the conversation moving makes restaurant calls feel a lot less robotic.

@Yelp Ambient restaurant noise, overlapping speech, and fast interruptions are the real edge cases. If turn-taking holds up without dropping the tool-call payload, voice agents finally crossed the production line.

@Yelp 全双工最难的从来不是低延迟,而是语义层面的精准静音与打断判定。传统 VAD 把呼吸声当打断的痛点,只有原生端到端语音模型才能在底层解掉。

I am curious, what is stopping OpenAI from replacing or buying out yelp. These frontier AI labs can start any business they want. I hope the world stays diversified like this. Companies who can't do R&D on AI should adopt an open weight model instead of using the proprietary models.

@Yelp Interruption handling is the easy half. The part that decides if it works is what happens when it thinks it booked a table and did not.

So over the years as a Content Creator for World of Warcraft, I've picked up a few great camera tricks that can make your footage look more professional. Not sure how widely known these are but I'll share some that I know and hopefully it will be helpful to someone! So firstly, let me show you how to do a smooth rotation shot. You're going to want to create a Macro for this with this script; /script MoveViewRightStart(0.15) To modify the direction, you can change the word "Right" to Left, In, Out, Up or Down. The number at the end indicates the speed of the rotation, the higher the number the faster the rotation. I tend to keep this fairly low for a nice non-sickening rotation. Now you can combine as many of these as you like. So if you wanted a smooth shot that zoomed in on your Character while rotating Right you would make a macro like this; /script MoveViewRightStart(0.15) /script MoveViewInStart(0.15) It is fun to play around with but you will also need to create a "Stop" macro. I go with a generic one like this which will stop all rotation in all directions; /script MoveViewLeftStop() /script MoveViewDownStop() /script MoveViewRightStop() /script MoveViewUpStop() /script MoveViewInStop() /script MoveViewOutStop() Another trick to get the best possible shots of areas or up close combat is to hide your Character model. This is done with a simple console command; /console showplayer To show your player character again just type it again. I'm sure there are easier ways to do this, but that's just the way I've always done it to get nice smooth footage of World of Warcraft for videos. Let me know if you have any questions or have any other cool tips to share!
