Stanley Kubrick is getting the full Criterion Collection treatment: The Complete Kubrick is a 4k restoration of all Kubrick’s 13 features (all masterpieces in their own right) along with some short films & behind-the-scenes footage of Kubrick. The cost comes in at about $480, which I think is hefty, but I plan on purchasing The Complete Kubrick for multiple reasons, the primary reason being I want to have physical editions of each of Kubrick’s films in my home. Period. Drops October 20th, folks.

“Honouring the original mixes, and the original intention of the sound of these records, which are so loud and explosive, and transferring that to Dolby Atmos was one of the greatest challenges of my career”. All 13 of Stanley Kubrick’s films (aka all 13 of his masterpieces) are coming to Criterion Collection on October 20th. The entire set is $600 but includes new versions, restorations, and behind-the-scenes footage of all Kubrick’s films. While I personally grapple with the $600 price (that’s a lot of dough), I really want to pull the trigger & make this purchase simply because Kubrick is God.

🚨 "I'm scared of the family with the red hoodie in the big house in Eyes Wide Shut." 👀 Holy Shit... Eyes Wide Shut camera man told Professor Simon that the theatrical release of the film was NOTHING like the film he shot. He worked with Kubrick for 4 years and NONE of that footage is in the final draft. This is one of many insider stories that seem to confirm the original film was actually about an elite pedo ring. The studio and Kubrick allegedly fought over the film after having seen an edit. Kubrick died before the film was released and the studio reedited it significantly before the premier.

At the end of a significant week for world politics it’s time for a reappraisal of the UK’s place in the world. Now we must recognise that our interests lie in a Europe which shares our values, not in a USA which clearly does not. We have been making that point in Leeds today.

According to Kirk Douglas, during the filming of "Paths of Glory" (1957), Stanley Kubrick made the veteran actor Adolphe Menjou do the same scene 17 times. After a few takes, Menjou said to Kubrick, "That was my best reading. I think we can break for lunch now." It was well past the usual lunch time but Kubrick said he wanted another take. Menjou went into an absolute fury. In front of Kirk Douglas & the entire crew he blasted off on what he claimed was Kubrick's dubious parentage, and made several other unprintable references to Kubrick's relative greenness in the art of directing actors. Stanley Kubrick merely listened calmly, and, after Menjou had spluttered to an uncomplimentary conclusion, said quietly: "All right, let's try the scene once more." With utter docility, Menjou went back to work. Douglas said, "Stanley instinctively knew what to do." Douglas felt that Kubrick's air of Knowledge can infuriate an actor at first, but then, "You settle down and admire him." ("'2001': Offbeat Director In Outer Space", Hollis Alpert, The NY Times, 1966) P.S: Remembering the Legendary Filmmaker Stanley Kubrick on his 98th birthday!

President Biden has been an outstanding leader, not only of our nation, but the entire world. I have deep respect for his decades of public service and incredible appreciation for the work we’ve done together. But I believe the time has come for President Biden to pass the torch.

The situation in the Middle East right now is serious, and many people in the region are going through uncertain times. Dubai and the entire Gulf region have always been incredibly important for our films and for our boss. Millions of Indians live and work there, and a massive fan base of Rocking Star stands proudly in that region. For a film of this scale, the experience is meant to be shared together by fans across the world at the same time. When such a large section of our audience is facing tension and uncertainty, it only makes sense to wait for the right moment so everyone can celebrate the film together in theatres. This decision shows responsibility and respect for fans everywhere. Cinema is about bringing people together, and the goal is for every fan, whether in India, Dubai, or anywhere in the world, to enjoy the experience without worry. Real fans understand this. The celebration will be bigger when the time is right. 🔥
