Result of a complete auto-edit in Resolve using Astra on light via MCP through Codex. All timeline, all captions/titles, audio mix, green screen cutouts and graphics it sourced everything and generated, I didnt touch it. It's a B, I dont like the generated graphic styles, but will feed it... show more

initial thoughts - for cutdowns, captions, audio mix and tedious stuff, I will never do that again - for graphics if I do better prep and kitting should be able to nail it I think this will reduce edits for my core styles to basically titling, but we'll still source graphics ourselves and just have them implement barriers to everything are as low as they've ever been (but most people will still do nothing)

auto captioning and mixing without touching it once, that used to be a full time hire

damn

Next make a video about editing a video in codex that’s about editing video with codex

What percent of your weekly usage did this take up? Including revisions you needed to request to get to this final version.

10% of the five hour allocation and I didn’t ask for any revisions just got to this Haven’t measured further

are you giving it all the b roll and clips before?

Yuuuuup. The more AI becomes embedded in the process the authentic personality is what the differentiator becomes.

This is really good… wow

the best part is this is the worst it will ever be

I’ll try it. Prompts?

A B on the untouched first pass is pretty wild. Curious to see how much the brand kit changes those graphics.

Not bad! How long did this take, and how much usage did you go through? Definitely give it a design.md for the UI it's creating and have it teach itself by watching all of your previous shorts and compiling it into a short creation workflow skill. Astra is really good at learning or teaching itself

42m, 10% of my 5hr allocation yeah im gonna equip it proper this weekend when I have some more time and think I can get it better

Did you just upload one video for it to edit?

You could try using via the MCP and provide a reference video. then use that to recreate it with Astra. the MCP lets you analyze the whole video style, it actually watches the video not just the transcript. Talking: - cuts, transitions -Median shot length -Hooks, CTA, Claims - Number / Text on Screen - Sound design etc... example attached!

🤣🤣🤣 that style of video will no longer work you're gonna have to come up with something else

thats not how this works

lmao if everyone can just mass produce these types of videos with AI, then that "style" will become oversaturated which it already is you're gonna have to use your own brain oren 🤣🤣

how much did the video cost?

10% of my 5hr allocation

Pretty decent! I HATE editing. It's what stopped previous efforts on video and audio as my thing is to write, so I don't consider either of the previous one "the product". I'm hopeful that excuse is unavailable soon.

Very good!

Did you source all the images used or did it find them for you?

astra got them

fleece

Is this what you used or is there an official davinchi connector?

i used the official

Weird I can’t find it. Got a link?

@orenmeetsworld I think most people are using that GitHub one with some kind of bridge but there’s an official one in Davinci Resolve Studio paid version.

@orenmeetsworld Thank you. That makes sense. Yeah I haven't been able to find one even with my Codex

@orenmeetsworld What kind of bridge is needed ?

Ok it’s not as good as your usual videos but it’s great for 42 mins of work.

yeah absolutely, but honestly just trimdown, captions, audiomix etc is something I either spend 20m on or pay for that is now gone

Oren! Shana Tova. Began following you for awhile, you're absolutely killing it!

What was the relative cost in comparison to using an editor to fulfil this?

pretty noice - so single prompt? and how long did it take then to complete the edit?

a few prompts, I didnt have a clear vision getting started so chunked it - 42 minutes, 10% of 5 hour credit allocation ill dial in my specific flow and will just be a skill I have run on a Mac mini

Nice, yeah, for sure the first time is always the longest, but then you skillify or workflowify it and the next one should be quicker.

getting the whole timeline + audio mix without touching it is nuts, graphics can be fixed with the brand kit

Auto-edit is a draft. Brand kit is the spec.

auto-edit getting a B is still wild. agent did the whole timeline and you're just there grading it
