Reverse osmosis filter install

Every single person should go to their local water department. Ask for the WQMR. Water quality monitoring report. They should be capable of providing it electronically. They are required by law to send one to every customer each year. Scan it into @grok and understand what you are drinking and showering in.

Cool. did this 10 years ago. Made sure my two kids drank reverse osmosis water and not LA city water.

I had to inspect one of these (not generally my wheelhouse) in a medical facility once... Not only had that bladder inside the tank broken at some point, but someone had de-installed the drain connection, so there was no actual place for the waste/run-off to go

This shouldn’t be this difficult

No quick-connect leak detector? No inline check valve to prevent backflow from the trap? The saddle is also too high, which causes noise and potential clogs. Trace minerals are also a complete waste for 99% of people on a basic diet. Final Grade: C-

be careful with added trace minerals, some of them can have heavy metals, so really look into it

I ran my internals through the floor into the basement. It makes it much easier to access to change filters. I also ran a line to my ice machine in my fridge. Crystal clear cubes.

Fun fact: the drain in this video for the RO system is classified as a direct cross connection. This means if the sink backs up, raw sewage is directly introduced into the RO system. There is a correct fitting that allows for an airgap, just costs a bit more money.

I always love the use of Finish-fucker Pliers on nice chrome hex fittings. Nothing says "Professional Plumber" like a bunch of teeth marks!

If you're drinking it add a pinch of that pink salt to the glass to remineralize it. On a fresh filter a 5 stage turns my 450 EC tap water to 13 EC.
