There’s a very hard truth here: Not everyone’s opinion is equal. A college freshman’s opinions on Fermat’s Last Theorem are not going to have as much weight as someone who’s been studying it for 50 years. So, no. You SHOULD trust the experts. They know more than you.

RFK Jr loves to talk about “don’t trust the experts” like he’s some prophet of truth: RFK Jr: “We need to stop trusting the experts... Trusting the experts is not a feature of science or democracy, it's a feature of religion and totalitarianism.” Well, science isn’t religion. Religion asks for blind faith. Science asks for proof and is ready to burn itself down if the evidence says so. What he’s really saying is, “Don’t trust them, trust me.” That’s the Hyparadox right there: bashing blind faith while begging for his own cult of blind followers.
