@ricwe123 Operative words were "We don't have... ..agreement" Shortly after this, the Soviet Union was dissolved, proposed assurances were now moot. Countries in the East had a change of regime and they no longer wanted any such assurances. They wanted to be in Nato, to enlarge Nato.
