Love seeing New Glenn's seven BE-4 engines come alive! Congratulations to Team Blue on today's hotfire. We extended the hotfire duration this time to simulate the landing burn sequence by shutting down the non-gimballed engines after ramping down to 50 percent thrust, then shutting down the outboard gimballed engines while ramping the center engine to 80 percent thrust. This helps us understand fluid interactions between active and inactive engine feedlines during landing. Next, we will mate NASA's ESCAPADE payload to the launch vehicle and enter final preparations for launch.

We're not rebuilding the same pad for New Glenn. We're moving to a horizontal/vertical hybrid configuration to get us flying again this year at 36A. We were already working on something similar for 9x4 at 36B. Let me explain what that means. We mate the stages horizontally in the Integration Facility (IF). Then we bring the integrated vehicle out to the pad, use a crane to perform the vertical breakover, and mate the payload once New Glenn is vertical. This new ConOps has the added benefit of increasing our flight cadence as well.

🚨 Artemis II LAS Hatch Closed Successfully- Pad Clear Next!🚨 NASA teams have now closed the Launch Abort System (LAS) hatch on Orion during today’s Artemis II rehearsal at Launch Complex 39B, simulating the final moments of launch day pad operations. The LAS hatch provides access to the Orion crew module through the abort tower and must be securely sealed before launch. This system is designed to rapidly pull the astronauts away from the rocket in the event of an emergency during ascent; meaning hatch integrity is directly tied to crew safety. After closure, the closeout crew: • Verified mechanical seals • Checked environmental conditions inside the spacecraft • Performed leak checks • Confirmed Orion is properly configured for flight operations Securing this hatch is a major milestone and indicates the spacecraft is now essentially in its launch configuration. Next, once all inspections are complete, the closeout crew will depart the pad, leaving the rocket and spacecraft to continue through the countdown just as they would on launch day.

The disk-shaped reentry vehicle designed for returning payloads from low orbit (or suborbital flights) to Earth. • About 10 feet in diameter, 2.5 feet tall. • Aluminum and Carbon Fiber Construction • Up to 2,200 lb payload capacity • Parachute system for splashdown in the ocean • Compatible on Falcon 9 (and starship I think?)
