The cashless part is the real story here. India's own foreign minister Jaishankar put it best, saying what America does in 3 years India does in a month on digital payments. A 120 rupee auto ride paid by phone is normal there now. Cash still has its uses though, privacy, working during outages, and access for the unbanked that digital money does not fully replace.
