President William Ruto on Monday detailed his fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, attributing their strained relationship to persistent conflicts and a lack of support for government projects. Speaking during a media engagement at Sagana State Lodge as he began his five-day tour of Mt. Kenya region, Ruto stated that Gachagua frequently picked fights with government officials and Members of Parliament, forcing him to intervene multiple times. He accused him of intimidating MPs and refusing to rally behind state programmes. He criticized Gachagua for failing to publicly defend development projects, saying that when he was Deputy President, he actively promoted government initiatives on television and in public forums. Ruto alleged that Gachagua once demanded Ksh.10 billion for political activities in Mount Kenya and threatened to make him a one-term president. He denied involvement in Gachagua’s impeachment, saying he twice stopped the process but was overruled by MPs, especially from Mt Kenya who were determined to remove him from office. Ruto said the impeachment motion was not his initiative but was pushed by leaders from the region who felt that Gachagua was undermining their political agenda and failing to support government initiatives. He maintained that while he had initially defended Gachagua against impeachment attempts, the mounting pressure from MPs made it impossible to continue shielding him. The President added that even after the fallout, he never personally endorsed the ouster but allowed due process to take its course. Ruto also pointed out that Gachagua’s removal was a result of his own political miscalculations, stating that he had failed to build consensus with leaders and instead engaged in divisive politics.

LAST night, I listened to the speech by Hassan Omar, the one made in front of President William Samoei Ruto. I listened from the point he took the mic to the point he handed it back to Ali Joho. I decided not to just HEAR him speaking but to LISTEN to him. Hearing and listening are two different things. He spoke for exactly 5min 15sec. I listened twice, meaning I was on it for over 12 minutes. I wanted to PERSONALLY draw my own anger from the speech, different from collective anger. So I wanted to KEENLY and PERSONALLY pick out the words that directly or indirectly referred or made reference to me (WT) as a Kikuyu from Nyeri County, a Kikuyu who has never been in government leadership and a Kikuyu who has no land anywhere in or near Coast region. I wanted to use my own judgement. I wanted to personalise the speech. I wanted to get the feeling that the man was in one way or another, speaking about me or anyone who has the three attributes above. For a start, there was NO mention of the word KIKUYUS, whether positively or negatively, for the 5min 15sec. That's a FACT. There was no mention of UHURU or KENYATTA by name. That's a fact. There was mention of the former president na watu wake. Probably the "watu wake" referred to me. There was twice the mention of Vikaragozi (puppets) of the former president. Again, probably that's where I come in as one of the puppets. Finally, there was a lot of mention of those who stole coastal land. I don't think that was for me. Children of single and entitled Okuyus want UDA SG fired because of what exactly... Saying the truth that Johnstone Kamau is a thief and Kenyatta family.... Wicked people should not extend their ignorance. They should focus on their own mad man, Methu. Rigathi Gachagua once told Mama Ngina Kenyatta to return land they stole from MAU MAU. The question I'm asking is this: What's the difference between what Gachagua said and that of Omar Hassan?
