I'd argue "they" are manufacturing the processes by which we are becoming lost so that "they" can come to our rescue. "They" are promoting tribalism by highlighting the differences we have over our shared hopes and dreams. It's important to understand context and motivation. You make extremely good points.

Some people who have accomplished little in life need a cause to give themselves stature. The more popular the cause, the more important they feel. Climate, racism and abortion thus have many of these types.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Trump wins in 2024 he does this: 1. Tim Scott VP 2. Vivek serves two years as Chief of Staff (trump needs a COO, and Vivek would be awesome) 3. Vivek then gets high profile cabinet position for 2 years (Treasury or State). Then Vivek has the profile to run for POTUS in 2028, again.
