These Lifeguards rescued this man at the Wedge in Newport Beach, California. No statistics have been released so far for 2026 but last year on 4th of July weekend alone, lifeguards rescued over 150 people in Huntington Beach and 350 in Newport Beach alone. 🤯 These lifeguards should get hazardous pay or they should get double pay on days like these when inexperienced swimmers and surfers try to play way outside their lane. 💯 Lifeguards are the first responders of the ocean…big respect. 👏 The Wedge is famous for its’ unpredictable waves than can reach up to 30 feet high, generated by the swell and the rock jetty built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers back in the 30’s. These waves form through a phenomenon known as wave reflection or interference, where incoming waves bounce off the jetty & collide with subsequent waves, amplifying their energy. This create steep shore-breaking waves capable of launching riders into the air or slamming them into shallow sand – making The Wedge both a world-class surfing destination and one of the most dangerous breaks in California.

NEW: A large portion of the Santa Cruz pier in California collapses into the water, taking multiple people with it. City workers could be seen still on the pier after it collapsed into the ocean. A 150-foot portion of the pier started floating away after the area experienced a large swell, seeing waves of up to 25 feet. Two of the workers required rescuing from lifeguards while one was able to swim to shore. Two of the workers were hospitalized. The National Weather Service Bay Area is telling locals to stay away from the ocean, warning of potential waves of up to 60 feet.

JUST IN: Drone captures the moment a boat carrying illegal immigrants gets flipped over by a wave in San Diego, California. Local officials are now warning that a body may wash up on shore. The incident happened in Ocean Beach when the suspected smuggling boat was trying to beach. Lifeguards say 20-30 people were dispersed into the water. They made multiple rescues including two people who were trapped inside. “Lifeguards were able to break the window to the vessel and get two people who were trapped… One of them was conscious and the other was not,” said Lifeguard Lt. Rick Romero. “A body may wash up on the beach, or it may not.” Surfers also jumped into action and helped make rescues. Video: eyeinthesky sd on IG.

This was at La Jolla Cove in La Jolla California. These people are swimming at the Cove but there is a good amount of Sea lions there. 😳 You can see one of the Sea lions almost run over a kid as it is trying to get back in the water and you can hear a voice over the loudspeaker telling people to please keep their distance from all the Sea lions. People argued about this saying that little beach was always meant for kids to swim at and has been that way for 40 years. But many others said that it has obviously changed and now we have Sea lions there and they should leave those Sea lions in peace and go find another beach. To me, the ocean, that is their home. There are plenty of other beaches to use. The people should be the ones to move, not the Sea lions. 💯 What is your opinion? Should they just keep it the way it is, let people around the Sea lions or should they close this small beach cove to the public in order to allow the Sea lions to be in peace?

The ocean off Cabo does not care how good of a swimmer you are and this video is proof - this guy jumped off the boat and that current grabbed him and made the swim back feel like it lasted a lifetime. You can see him fighting to get back and it is not until you watch it that you realize just how fast the water can take you somewhere you never planned to go. And let us not forget Cabo is known for shark activity in those waters - a rope, a float, anything thrown in the water at that moment could have been the difference between a story he tells and one nobody ever hears. The current alone was dangerous enough but being that far from the boat in open ocean water with everything swimming beneath the surface is a completely different level of risk that most people never think about until it is too late. Glad he made it back. Are you a good swimmer? That one could have gone a whole different direction.

On this issues of Lagosians and indegeous brouhaha, I have a question and I will appreciate a genuine response only. If non-indegenous people born and brought up in Lagos are referred to as Lagosians, how then do we refer to the indegeneous people, to differentiate them from the non-indegenous people? NB: The video below is showing Akan-male, a mighty waves that that the fisherman at beach without bar mouth faced daily before entering the ocean , making their fishing more delicate.
