More games need to take inspiration from Quake's impact effects. It's so simple, a mesh rotated to face the normal of the impacted surface. Can always add particles and all afterwards on top of it, but this way you get a sharp visual.

Ukraine has destroyed the mesh network through which Russian "Shahed" missiles were flying in from Belarusian territory, Defense Minister Fedorov said. According to the government official, this has "a positive impact on the defense capabilities of Kyiv and central Ukraine." The minister's advisor, radio technology expert Sergei "Flash" Beskrestnov, explained: The mesh network works by having all its participants act as relays for each other. The upcoming Rerun 0.17 brings a huge increase in explicit control over your visualizations 🚀 In this video for example we dynamically change the visualizer that is applied on an entity from Mesh3D to Points3D and then edit the radius of the points. Because this mesh has vertex colors, the point cloud automatically becomes colored as well. All of this can be done either from UI or from code. We’ll release 0.17 next week. Stay tuned.

SpaceX has introduced a new website for its next-generation Starlink V3 satellites, along with new information about the satellite. • 1 Tbps downlink capacity (~10× higher than Starlink V2). • 160 Gbps uplink capacity (~22× higher than Starlink V2). • 2,048 downlink beams + 2,048 uplink beams (vs. 192 downlink/144 uplink beams on V2). • Upgraded phased array antennas enable the increased user capacity and beam count. • New SpaceX-designed beamformer chips power the phased arrays. • Modem chips handle ~64× more throughput per chip, allowing more efficient simultaneous service and real-time beam allocation based on demand. • Each satellite includes 6 high-capacity 400 Gbps laser links, enabling a redundant petabit-scale laser mesh network for global routing. • Each satellite also has 4 quad-band RF backhaul antennas operating across Ka, E, V, and W bands. • RF backhaul capacity increases to 1.2 Tbps (>8× Starlink V2). • Backhaul uplink supports 60 GHz of spectrum across frequencies and polarizations (4.3× more than V2). • New solar arrays generate ~2× the power of the V2 satellite arrays. • Solar arrays are manufactured using a continuous roll of solar blanket, cut into 19-meter sections, with 4 sections stitched together per array. • Solar arrays are optimized to reduce atmospheric drag in low Earth orbit. • A Starship launch carrying V3 satellites will deploy ~20× more network capacity than a Falcon 9 launch carrying V2 satellites. • V3 technology will support future Starlink Mobile Gen 2 satellites, delivering terrestrial-like LTE speeds directly to unmodified smartphones. Okay this is really cool. Codex app has a new feature that is really useful. Highlight any text, and you'll notice a new popup. "More Details" uses GPT 5.5 Instant to explain in more detail about the highlighted portion of your text, allowing you to understand the reasoning/concept/statement/etc in greater detail. What's interesting about this versus a side chat is that it's instantaneous, and still retains context from the thread. With /side chat, you'd have to type out a prompt "what are the details on this?" With "more details" the prompt is implicit and the response is instantenous Very nice feature, as I'm always making side chats/branches to expand/learn/understand agent outputs better.

Triangle Splatting for Real-Time Radiance Field Rendering Contributions: (i) We propose Triangle Splatting, a novel approach that directly optimizes unstructured triangles, bridging traditional computer graphics and radiance fields. (ii) We introduce a differentiable window function for soft triangle boundaries, enabling effective gradient flow.
