Perturbator (Feat. Memory Ghost's Isabella Goloversic) - Naked Tongues (Dark Synthwave AMV) has some great scenes of this with a great track.

I remember discovering this when I was a kid who got up in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Stations used anime as 'filler'. I rediscovered what it was as a teenager when video stores started stocking anime titles.
