With no one left to care for it, the dog gradually became dirty, severely matted, and neglected but it never lost its gentle, loving nature. Ashamed of how he had judged the dog at first, the boy returned with food and water. But the dog showed little interest, as though its heart still belonged to its late owner. Fearing it wouldn't survive much longer, the boy decided to take it home and give it a second chance. At the veterinary clinic, the dog was found to be only mildly malnourished. Removing the thick, tangled mats took two and a half hours of careful work, yet the dog remained calm and patient throughout the entire process despite the discomfort.
