I always assumed this was the point. Cameras are for understanding the environment. Walking itself should rely on internal sensors, balance, force feedback and proprioception. Humans don’t look at their legs to walk either.

Chinese robot performs 10 times better

Relying strictly on proprioception instead of vision proves that stable locomotion can be treated as a pure physical prior. Deleting thousands of lines of hand-coded engineering for a reinforcement learning model allows the hardware to adapt to uneven terrain purely by feel.
