This is likely the last teaser I'll make on this as I really should have this video done this week. Here is using Windows exclusively with a controller only, rebooting the system and only using the controller to sign in and have it launch straight into Steam Big Picture Mode.

I seriously don’t want to be too hyperbolic, but your video on this could spur MUCH more interest in PC gaming.

I'm going too. But wanted to see if I can navigate Windows entirely via controller and so far, I've had success. Even after a Windows 11 update and it starts asking me crazy questions about Windows features.

You don't need 3rd party program to auto-login. Launch "control userpasswords2" (without quotes) from Run ... Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" ... press OK, enter your password and you are done.

wouldn't be better using a DS4 or Dualsense? (touch pad and gyro) or the official xbox controller is mandatory?

The Xbox Adapter was a quicker fix to have "wake from standby" far more consistent. But also during my month of using Bluetooth, whenever you get an update to your Bluetooth drivers, I needed to connect and keyboard and mouse again to re-sync my controller.

Don't want to bring the "it already exist" vibes but mire the "hey look at what other made it can give you some ideas" but there is "controller companion" on steam that seems to do what you want (it's only 2€ iirc) and it was nice and easy to use

Can you please advise, it can be also topic for a video. I have my retired PC, and have a thought- have it for remote play through steam for decks and phone. Is there any way to conveniently remotely start it, have a remote play and then turn off. Would be a great thing. Thanks

That's a bit outside of the scope as the goal for this video was "Using a controller exclusively on Windows without a kbm" To have a system standby or even shutdown and wake would require magic packets on lan.
