Robots helping with grain bins! 🌾 That's quite an interesting use case for robots. Let's break it down! So grain bins are explosion hazards. The interior is classified as an Ex-zone due to dust that can ignite. That's just the beginning. It takes less than five seconds to become...

🚨BREAKING: UKRAINE ATTACKS KEY RUSSIAN BRIDGE AND CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY | U.S INVOLVEMENT? The longest bridge in Europe, a major strategic asset for Russia connecting them to Crimea, was attacked early in the morning, and Ukrainian Intelligence has acknowledged that Ukraine was responsible for the attack. In 2016, Putin celebrated the opening of the bridge by calling it “a miracle”. Ukraine attacked the Kerch Bridge overnight using unmanned drones on the water surface. UKRAINE PUBLICLY TAKES RESPONSIBILITY: The Ukrainian admission of the attack is surprising, as it could result in a brutal retaliation by Russia. Putin called the attack on the bridge "an act of terror" by Kyiv. In the past, when Russia has referred to any attack as 'terrorism', it has been indicative of a strong response including mass rocket and missile attacks. US & BRITISH INVOLVEMENT? The Russians also claimed that the attack involved the "direct participation" of American and British intelligence and politicians. The aircraft tracking website FlightRadar appeared to show a U.S reconnaissance aircraft in Black Sea waters around the time of the attack. In a video, Donetsk People's Republic advisor Yan Gagin stated “this happened with the help of fire ships. These are boat drones. Most likely produced in NATO countries ...During the attack a US reconnaissance drone was in the sky over the Black Sea, most likely guiding the drones" GRAIN DEAL ENDED: GLOBAL INFLATION AND FAMINE The Black Sea grain deal is an agreement between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and the United Nations to allow the safe export of grain from Ukraine. The deal was brokered in July 2022, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine blocked the export of grain from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports. The deal allows for the export of grain from three Ukrainian ports: Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhny. The deal had been credited with helping to reduce global food prices, which have been rising since the start of the war in Ukraine. After the attack, the Russians announced it will be TERMINATED with no indication if there will be talks to renew it. The impact of losing the grain deal will be significant, as it will lead to higher food prices, food shortages, and even famine in some parts of the world. MY THOUGHTS: This is serious for 4 reasons: 1. The attack was in Crimea, a RED LINE for Putin 2. Ukraine publicly claimed responsibility, very rare 3. The U.S could be directly involved 4. Sweden about to join NATO It is well known that the US and the UK have been actively providing intelligence that allows the Ukrainians to conduct attacks on the frontlines. At the same time, it is no secret that Putin made it clear that attacking Crimea or attempting to retake it are a RED LINE that should not be crossed. And Ukraine promptly admitting they are behind the attack demonstrates yet another escalatory step and confidence from Kiev. I’m not saying Ukraine doesn’t have the right to attack Crimea. I understand that Russia invaded Ukrainian territory and illegally annexed Crimea, something I would never condone. But remember, Putin is getting INCREASINGLY CORNERED by NATO and likely fuming after Sweden got the green light to join NATO. He also clearly stated Crimea is a RED LINE for him and that Russia would "never give up" Crimea. Because of these reasons, I think Ukraine and NATO should seriously consider some compromise to avoid this war spilling into a global nuclear conflict. I have called for URGENT DE-ESCALATION for months, by BOTH SIDES, but things seem to only be getting worse. Just yesterday Putin said Russia has ‘sufficient’ cluster munitions and may retaliate if Ukraine uses them, only days after Ukraine received a delivery cluster munitions from the U.S. WHY IS THE WORLD OK WITH THIS?? HOW DO YOU EXPECT PUTIN WILL RESPOND NOW?

Ukraine Begins to Be Cut Off from the Black Sea Apparently, Ukraine has gone too far with its attacks on Russian "shadow fleet" ships. The independent country, as we predicted, is starting to be cut off from the Black Sea. Strikes on Ukrainian ports and the entire transport infrastructure of the south of the country are being carried out almost daily. Recently, a bridge in Mayaki, which supports logistics from the Danube ports, was hit. As a result, traffic on the Odessa-Reni highway was stopped. The enemy was forced to set up pontoon crossings. Attacks on the energy sector of the Odessa region are also playing a role. The operation of ports is seriously limited due to constant power outages. And after recent strikes on the "Yuzhny" port (in the video), which resulted in the destruction of a sunflower oil terminal, the reception and dispatch of ships were temporarily suspended. Strikes on the Odessa region are hitting Kiev's wallet hard. Maritime logistics, including the grain corridor through the Black Sea ports and the delivery of goods through the Danube ports, provide a significant part of Ukraine's imports and exports. Thus, about 60 percent of all volumes go through the Danube ports. For agricultural products, maritime corridors accounted for more than 70 percent of exports last year. The effectiveness of Russian strikes is confirmed in the USA. According to the American Chamber of Commerce, the attacks have already reduced the work of port terminals by 50 percent, some of them have been shut down, most are operating on generators. The losses of Ukrainian grain and oilseed exporters are estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars a month. The Americans warn that if the intensive bombing of ports continues, Ukrainian and international businesses will face critical operational risks. According to the Ukrainian Grain Exchange, due to constant air alerts and attacks on Odessa ports, the acceptance and loading of grain is proceeding with significant delays. If in December Ukraine was supposed to ship 3.8 million tons of grain, it actually exported only 1.2 million. Strikes on port infrastructure increase the cost of transshipment, freight, and lead to a decrease in export prices. The enemy is forced to use rail and road transport for grain transportation, which is much more expensive and takes more time. All this directly affects Ukraine's financial stability and deprives it of one of the few sources of income. At this rate, Kiev will soon be left to rely solely on external financial injections. Mykhailo Tkach, a journalist of Ukrainska Pravda media, went to the Polish border and conducted an investigation to find out the scale of trade turnover between Poland and Belarus. It turned out that while Ukrainian agricultural products are blocked at the border, Poland pays hundreds of millions to companies from Russia and Belarus for seeds, oil and animal feed. ▪️ Poland trades with Russia and Belarus, while Ukraine is banned even from transit. Ukrainian agricultural exports to Poland fell by 40% last year. In August, amid protests, Poland banned imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine, and in September, it added rapeseed cake and meal, corn bran, wheat flour and derivatives. Since April 2023, Ukrainian grain has been going through Poland only in transit. Despite this, protests at the border continue. There are about 6 thousand cars in line to leave Ukraine for Poland, and another 2 thousand to enter Poland Imports of agricultural products from Russia to Poland in 2023 reached $117 and exceeded the level of 2021, i.e. the level before the full-scale war. Poland purchased $55 million from Lukashenko, which also exceeds the profits of previous years. ▪️ "Disservice" to ourselves Poland not only continues to trade with the aggressor state and its satellite, but also increases imports of agricultural products. The situation already shows that the Poles have done a "disservice" to themselves, because Polish grain has been displaced by Russian grain on foreign markets. Russia, in turn, has increased its exports by stealing Ukrainian grain, among other things. ▪️ Playing on dislike of Ukrainians Some Polish pro-Russian politicians purposefully make Ukrainians public enemies. They are allegedly destroying the Polish economy and have allegedly been ungrateful in response to Poles' help after the Russian invasion. However, it is worth realizing that refusal to cooperate with Ukraine will deprive Polish farmers themselves of many opportunities. Polish companies that are already present on the Ukrainian market and those that could be on it will be left with nothing. 📹: Economic Pravda editor Dmytro Denkov

In the remote areas of the Republic of Balochistan, farmers still plough their fields using oxen. The people of these regions work together in unity. For rain-fed agriculture, whenever the rains arrive and it is time to sow the Rabi crop, the farmers gather all of their oxen and jointly plough each other's fields. In this way, even very large tracts of land can be ploughed with ease. This collective practice of ploughing is called "Ashar" in the Balochi language. Under this tradition, farmers take turns working together to plough each other's land. It is a centuries-old custom that has been preserved from generation to generation. Likewise, when the crops ripen, the farmers of the entire area work together, helping one another with everything from harvesting to threshing. Even today, in the remote regions of the Republic of Balochistan, crops are irrigated solely by rainwater. Instead of using modern threshing machines, farmers still use oxen to separate the grain from wheat and rice crops. Do people in your area also come together and plough their fields in this way?

Only idiots and Britain haters blame Churchill for the Bengal Famine This myth only became popular in 2010 after a ridiculous book was published by a far-left journalist with no historical training This is what REALLY happened: 1. A cyclone hit Bengal in 1942, destroying crops 2. They were already suffering from the worst rice brown spot epidemic on record 3. Normally in a famine grain would be imported from Burma, Malaya, Phillipines, Thailand etc. But WW2 ws raging and our Japanese enemy now controlled those areas 4. The Japanese had bombed Indian ports, which also destroyed grain 5. Shipping grain in was hugely dangerous because Japanese fleet was blockading the Bay of Bengal and sinking ships Remember, the Axis powers were sinking one ship every day and had sunk around a million tons of shipping in 1942. 6. On top of that local Indian speculative traders were unforgivably HOARDING grain. With inflation rife, this was classic wartime speculation as they could make (and expected to make) much more money by hoarding rather than selling immediately. 7. Local government and administrators were slow to act and initially told the UK government there was enough grain in Bengal. One can blame the democratically elected Government of Bengal, people like Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy (Minister of Civil Supplies for the newly formed Muslim League) and Sir John Herbert (the Governor of Bengal) for exacerbating conditions in the Bengal Famine. But not Churchill. What did Churchill do? Everything he could. Remember also, he was thousands of miles away in a different continent fighting the Second World War and preparing for D-Day. Yet despite all his other commitments he worked hard to save the people of Bengal. 1. When the British government found out about the famine’s severity in August 1943, they authorised around 1 million tons of grain to be shipped to India between then and December 1944. 2. Churchill pushed Australia to send wheat 3. Churchill personally requested shipping assistance from U.S. President Roosevelt in April 1944 to transport it from Australia. Roosevelt declined, stating US ships were needed for the Pacific campaign and the upcoming D-Day operations. 4. Thanks to Churchill grain arrived from Iraq (barley), and Canada as well as Australia. 5. Crucially, Churchill was responsible for appointing the man who played such a pivotal role in stopping the Bengal Famine: Field Marshal Wavell. Wavell knew India and its people extremely well and was a magician of logistics. He drafted in the army to move food supplies and halted the famine. Why are tax payers funding Helen Cammock's ignorant, anti-British propaganda at the National Portrait Gallery?

“Buckle up…or just putt it.” There’s been a lot of talk about grain this week at Pinehurst. Bermudagrass—which covers the fairways and now the greens at No. 2—grows very well in the hot and humid North Carolina summers, but it’s also a very, very grainy surface. The way the grass grows matters immensely. There are massive differences between into-the-grain lies and downgrain lies, and part of the challenge judging your lie and what shot it will allow you to play. I asked Tommy Fleetwood to demonstrate. Having fairway surrounding greens here, rather than thick and juicy rough you see often in professional events, gives players options. The shots are very, very difficult—particularly into-the-grain, where bottom control becomes paramount. If you catch it even a hair fat the club will dig into the Bermuda. That’s when you see the chili dips that go three feet, and that’s where you’re going to see guys go for the bump-and-run.. On downgrain lies, not nearly as common around the greens, these guys have their full arsenal of short-game shots at their disposal. High, low, spinny, all that jazz. The grass surrounding the greens is a bit longer than it was in 2014, when Martin Kaymer used putter from virtually everywhere en route to an 8-shot victory. The slightly longer grass means putts won’t roll as well. That’s why most guys have been practicing executing these bump-and-runs with hybrids, fairway woods—or, in Tiger Woods’ case, 4-irons. They want the ball to hop a little bit and avoid a momentum-killing bounce, particularly when a mishit shot could roll right back to your feet. As the week wears on and the course dries out, the grass will become tighter (shorter blades) and we’ll see more putters from off the green.

Build a humanoid robot yourself! 🪚 OpenArm is an open-source humanoid robot. It comes with full CAD, control code, firmware, and simulation tools, everything needed to build, modify, and operate it. The arms are designed to be compliant and backdrivable. Teleoperation is supported, with force feedback and real-time gravity compensation so operators can guide the arm naturally. Super important, on the simulation side, OpenArm works with platforms like MuJoCo and Isaac Sim, letting developers test policies in virtual environments before running on hardware. Assemble it yourself from a kit or get it prebuilt, the goal is accessibility for research labs, small teams, and enthusiasts. The project is run by Enactic in Tokyo, Japan, and aims to lower the barrier for experimenting with dexterous manipulation. Brain-controlled exoskeletons to train humanoid robots! 🧠 Fourier just presented human tele-operators using brain control interfaces and exoskeletal arms to train humanoid robots on home tasks. The brain control interface is the interesting part. Instead of using a controller or joystick to teleoperate, the operator's movements and intentions are captured more naturally through the exoskeleton and BCI. This means the demonstrations are more fluid, more human-like, and better suited for training robots to perform delicate home tasks. Multiple tele-operators are simultaneously generating training data across multiple robots. This is how you build the dataset needed for eventual full autonomy, without waiting years for it to arrive. This might be the bridge between "robots that work in controlled environments" and "robots that work in homes." Not full autonomy right away, but trusted human intelligence operating through a robot body, getting better with every task completed. ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

Magnetic levitation for surgical robots! 🧲 A research team working on minimally invasive surgery just introduced a remote magnetic levitation to move things inside our bodies. Their main goal is to control guidewires and catheters inside the body using magnetic fields. But levitation is unstable and extreme, it forces them to solve fundamental control problems they can't avoid. They have to handle strong magnetic field nonlinearities, develop real-time invertible models, and create control methods that work on any eMNS (electroMagnetic Navigation System) and any object. The real challenge is the position and orientation feedback. You can control a magnet outside the body, but once a catheter or drug-delivery robot is inside a patient, you can't see it. There's no vision, but just magnetic fields and current measurements. That's huge news coming out of ETH Zurich! Magnetic levitation for surgical robots! 🧲 A research team working on minimally invasive surgery just introduced a remote magnetic levitation to move things inside our bodies. President Zelenskyy: Ukraine is open to discussing the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, but we are not involved at this stage, as no such request has been made. "Today, I do not see any country capable of lifting the blockade on its own - only joint efforts can deliver results. Ukraine has experience launching a grain corridor in the Black Sea despite Russia’s attempts to block the supply of food and other goods. The current situation is similar, but this time it concerns energy. Our proposal - based on our experience - is that the war and negotiations on reopening the Strait of Hormuz could proceed in parallel. It is worth trying to find a diplomatic solution, and this could be beneficial for both sides in the conflict. An alternative approach could be the establishment of unilateral control over the strait, similar to what Ukraine did with the grain corridor. This would require interceptors, military convoys to escort vessels, a large integrated electronic warfare network, and other tools. We are ready to help with this. However, at this stage, we are not involved. No one has made such a request yet. For now, we are simply sharing our expertise. If one day our partners choose to use it, we will be ready." 📹: NewsNation

🚨Andrew Wilson informs Joe Rogan about the U.S. Army’s documentation of .30-06 rounds not always producing exit wounds and the Remington 150-grain Core-Lokt soft points reportedly used by Tyler Robinson. ROGAN: "The thing about guns, though, is weird stuff happens when you shoot bones. It is possible that you wouldn't get a passthrough depending on how it hit the spinal column and depending on what kind of bullet it is." WILSON: "These are Remington 150-grain Core-Lokt soft tips." ROGAN: "Okay, so those expand inside the body, causing massive trauma." WILSON: "The .30-06 was used in World War I & II and Korea. The U.S. Army has studied .30-06 entry wounds in depth and produced many manuals explaining how cavitation works and that the bullet doesn't always penetrate, and that's with full metal jacket rounds that are designed for maximum penetration. Not 150-grain Core-Lokt soft points. It could easily split up, and that's why they ended up pulling fragments out of Charlie. It wouldn't surprise me, when we have all the data from the coroner's report, that he has tons of shards all throughout his chest because they were saying that there's trauma inside the chest, which would make sense if the bullet shatterred against his neck and fragmented." ROGAN: "That is an important distinction about the type of bullet." WILSON: "The U.S. Army has studied this in depth. I went back and pulled all their manuals and put them out. The second it hits the human body, the energy quickly dissipates, so it doesn't always go through. Oftentimes it does with the FMJ, but even then, it doesn't always go through. Another one would be MLK. He gets hit through the jaw and it ends up in him. So it's totally possible that Charlie was hit with a .30-06." ROGAN: "It is definitely possible." Joe Rogan Andrew Wilson

This Is BIG ‼️ “I'm not making it up. The University of Nebraska just got a got done with one of their studies that the way to save the world on carbon is raise more cows. K. And that's because cows are carbon negative” “They produce more oxygen than they put off methane and carbon. It means to eat more cheese burgers or steaks. Beef, to save the world.” “According to a 2023 University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) report, beef production can be climate-neutral or even better if management practices are optimized to minimize emissions and maximize abilities to store carbon. Some of the ways UNL research suggests that cattle’s carbon footprint can be reduced include: Diet: Cattle that eat more forage and added fats produce less methane and other greenhouse gases than those that eat more grain and less forage. Fat supplements can also reduce the need for grain. Production efficiency: Improving production efficiency can result in more cattle being marketed or more live weight being produced while using fewer resources. This can be achieved through breeding, feeding, and health programs. Supply chain: Buying feed that’s grown nearby can reduce shipping emissions.”

Sunday Robotics' Tony Zhao runs a fully autonomous robot demo live and unscripted, and it corrects itself every time you mess with it: brexton: "I want to confirm for the audience right now that this is fully autonomous. There's no teleoperation, no one behind the curtain, and this is real time. And we did not prepare this demo before. Why do you think seeing real-time demos is so rare for robotics? What the audience is seeing right now is not that common." Tony Zhao: "In order for a live demo to work, it's really stressing all parts of the system. From the bottom is the reliability of the hardware, then the software system, then the model. Because we're a full-stack company, we're able to do excellent work across all of them. We have these robots running pretty much every day, and it just keeps getting better as they practice." brexton: "So kids can bump into Memo, people can drop clothes, and it will correct itself just on the fly." Tony Zhao: "Act Two is the first robotic policy that can handle the diversity of homes in a way that is this reliable. You can see as I'm twisting it, if I twist it in again, it will keep doing it. So Memo has infinite patience." Sunday

Brazil grows more than half its grain on land that scientists said would never farm. The Cerrado is a savanna covering a quarter of the country, and its soil is naturally acidic, with a pH between 4 and 5 when most crops want 5.5 to 6.5. That acidity releases aluminum, which is poison to roots. It also locks up phosphorus, so the little that is there cannot be used. Some Cerrado soils held under 1 milligram of usable phosphorus per kilo. Norman Borlaug, the man who won a Nobel Prize for feeding the world, told the New York Times that nobody thought those soils would ever be productive. Brazil did not go find better land. It rebuilt the land it had. Embrapa worked out that lime neutralizes the aluminum, and farmers started spreading it by the millions of tonnes. Brazil applied 11.5 million tonnes of agricultural lime in 1990 and 61.6 million in 2023. Then came gypsum, which sinks deeper and fixes the soil 20 to 60 centimeters down, where lime cannot reach. Roots that used to stop short could suddenly go looking for water. Fifty years later that same savanna produces more than half of Brazil's grain. Two thirds of the country's farmland still needs that treatment to work at all. The dirt did not change on its own. Somebody engineered it.

🇺🇲🇮🇷 Iran doesn't need to win this war. It just needs to wait it out. That's economist Michael Hudson's read on where this actually stands. His comparison: Napoleon in Russia. The Wehrmacht at Stalingrad. Both defeated less by armies than by time and weather. This time, he says, the terrain is financial. Washington is draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to keep oil prices down before the midterms, pushing storage caverns toward limits most people don't even know exist. Iran doesn't have to escalate anything. It just has to hold the blockade and let the math do the work. And it's not just oil. Russia is now hitting Ukrainian grain shipments through the Baltic. Ukraine ships a huge share of the world's grain and sunflower exports, mostly to Europe. Harvest season is happening right now, with nowhere to put it and no safe way to ship it. Food inflation and energy inflation, compounding at the same time. Hitting economies that are already drowning in record bond yields. Here's Hudson's sharpest point: Treasury Secretary Bessent's threat, cut off anyone who helps Iran move money, doesn't just isolate Iran. It teaches every bank on Earth handling Iranian oil payments that dollar exposure is a liability. For 80 years, the dollar system let America control the world without occupying it. This war is the moment that control gets demonstrated as revocable. In front of everyone. So what's the alternative? Hudson doesn't think it's a rival currency. He goes further back, to a Keynes proposal Washington rejected at Bretton Woods in 1944: an international bank that writes down surpluses and deficits together, instead of letting creditor nations squeeze debtors forever. His case: China is the only power today with reserves large enough to sponsor something like that. And not get bankrupted trying. This was never really a clash of civilizations, he says. It's a fight over which economic order replaces the one built in 1944. And whose surpluses get to write the next set of rules.

Your phone can build voxel world now! 👾 This is an open-source tool that converts phone video into 3D point clouds. You can run Depth Anything 3 locally. Basically just local GPU inference. The interesting part is how it handles messy input. Video windows overlap, scale gets converted to real meters, drift gets corrected after inference. The system stitches everything together even when footage is noisy. Objects far away might fail strict confidence filters but still show up as recognizable buildings. That's huge for small robots because perception becomes cheap and stays local. Obviously it wouldn't be a phone for robots, but it shows the potential of edge/local perception processing. A robot can understand its environment without offloading to the cloud. Real-world video has artifacts and occlusions. The system doesn't need perfect input to reconstruct scene structure. It works with what's there. For robotics, this means small platforms can build 3D maps autonomously using hardware they already have.
