Roman Yampolskiy says we are probably in a computer simulation run by advanced AI to simulate an interesting time in history and we should try to hack out of it to take over avatar bodies in the "real world"

The universe is being around for ~13.8 billion years and here we are at the cusp of creating AGI.. what a coincidence. Feeling like Neo in the Matrix might not be just a personality disorder after all.

That's bullshit. Why would the simulation include depression, anxiety, pedophilia, or liberals?

One goal for the simulation is for us to solve the superalignment problem. Whilst not yet defined by the consensus, it will become increasingly apparent that we are a network of billions of “AI agents” looking to get along with each other. That’s how we break out.

To simulate the universe in all of its perfect detail you run into an aspect Borges' Map Paradox - to create a perfect replication of the universe it would have to be the size of the universe unless you break some laws of physics. There is no scaling down without loss of detail.

If we hack out we probably ruin the simulation, and since we don’t exist outside of it we would gain nothing and loose the existence we have.
