LOL thinking in terms of "size of a computer"...it cracks me up when we speculate using such small human reference points. It's like saying we could never go that fast in a carriage because it would require 200 horses.

But why can’t there be a far bigger universe where the number of qbits to represent our universe is a trivial amount? The laws that govern our universe may preclude that, but we don’t simulate worlds with the same laws as our own. Infinite regressions either way I suppose.

that's a whole lot of assumptions is possible the observer effect is the simulation saving processing power by only generating what is being observed

why does Andrew Pontzen think the universe need to use human's computer science to do simulation ?

Doesn't this sound off? We have absolutely no idea what physics would exist in a world outside our hypothetical simulated universe. Let alone that all this is based on our current understanding of physics and technology which is at best incomplete and at worst elementary.

D-Wave announced a scientific breakthrough published in the esteemed journal Science Magazine, confirming that its annealing quantum computer outperformed one of the world’s most powerful classical supercomputers in solving a complex magnetic materials simulation problem with relevance to materials discovery.
