In 216 BC, Rome suffered its worst defeat in history at the Battle of Cannae.

Carthaginian general Hannibal has absolutely wrecked the Roman army, surrounding and annihilating them in a masterful tactical maneuver. Over 50,000 Roman soldiers are dead in a single day.

Rome responded by using asymmetric warfare with the "Fabian strategy" avoiding direct battles and Wearing Hannibal down. Rome ran out of men for its legions and resorted to enlisting teenagers, freed slaves, and criminals.

Instead of fighting Hannibal in Italy, Scipio invaded North Africa (204 BC), forcing Carthage to recall Hannibal. Scipio decisively defeated Hannibal, ending the war in Rome’s favor.

Ukraine has asked for nothing except arms and ammunition, in a battle for their very survival. We were there once in 1776. And if we don’t stand up for freedom now, what will we do when China arrives on our doorstep?

@Landswellsong But we’re not Ukraine. All WE have to do is give them weapons to fight our enemy. There’s no risk of WWIII that’s nonsense. It’s always been nonsense. The bottom line is this: Trump favors Putin. That’s it. There’s nothing more going on here. He likes the strongman format.

Great Video. We can learn much from Ukraine as you noted in your video on the training center with Ukraine instructors. The Friday kerfuffle with Zel did not change the underlying issues. Zel's post today about wanting to negotiate is a start. Trump's comment about cards, was about Zel's relationship to Trump, not Putin. My hope is that Trump will privately tell Putin that his favorite bridge to Crimea will disappear if he breaks the cease fire.

@Landswellsong Oh please Ryan. Rome was NOT the underdog, it was one of the two leading powers of the time in the Mediterranean, not some poor backwater. It had already beaten Carthage in a long, drawn-out war before & imposed its will upon it. It also had more manpower than Carthage.
