At Swindon Magic Roundabout, there are five mini-roundabouts arranged around a central island, connecting five major roads with multiple lanes and exits. Traffic flowing both clockwise and counterclockwise. Looks like this from the air:

Impressive stuff! But that first route was clearly wrong. It should have taken the blue path, it actually took the red path.

I hate driving through roundabouts manually. FSD makes them a breeze. What’s interesting is how roundabouts and FSD improve safety in surprisingly similar ways. Roundabouts redesign the environment to encourage safer behavior mainly by forcing drivers to slow down and follow a predictable flow. FSD on the other hand redesigns the driver, replacing human error with machine level precision and consistency, and follows a predictable flow. A match made in a round about way.

I genuinely can’t process how some of these brain-dead clowns still think LiDAR is the future — or that FSD is vaporware — after watching it crush real-world drives across multiple cities and countries for days straight. Denial must be a hell of a drug.

to the surpirse of many (if not most) americans - roundabouts are easier to deal with than basically any american non-traffic-light intersection 😅 When I saw FSDS videos out of USA I was certain European roundabouts will be dealt with zero neural effort 😎👏🏽

Would love a technical post on left vs right hand drive FSD and how training either handles both with a system prompt like “right is tight” or requires distinct models.

The next test for London is being able to reverse and pull to the side to allow opposing traffic to flow on a street that can only fit one cat at a time. And to recognise when other cars do the same give way manoeuvre for you.
