I got no issue with the split first base, but after the runner has already reached base, I don't understand the need to not let him use both sides afterwards.

Orange is the safety bag 10/10 times. Nothing more, nothing less. It allows the 1B to protect himself from collisions just like it allows the runner to protect themselves The ONLY time a 1B can use the orange bag is if it makes the play safer & avoids contact to make the play

I want to say thank you Jimmy, for advocating for the safety bag at first. As a prominent voice of the game right now, we need more people to know it would only help. If the runner’s lane is in foul territory, they should be able to run through a bag in foul territory.
