Kirishinefteorgsintez is located more than 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. The plant, situated in the city of Kirishi in the Leningrad region, is a subsidiary of Surgutneftegaz. This is not the first attack on the refinery: it was previously targeted in March and September.
